Accountability from a real OWNER

Mets fans everywhere. I owe you an apology . You did your part by showing up and supporting the team. We didn’t do our part. We will do a post-mortem and figure out the obvious and less obvious reasons why the team didn’t perform up to your and my expectations
We are all feeling raw emotions today. I know how much time and effort you have put into this team. The result was unacceptable. Your emotions tell me how much you care and continues to motivate the organization to do better. Thank You to the best fans in sports.

Owner shows some class. With the money he spends he has a right to be disappointed.

Not sure these types of messages from ownership really move the needle for me, but I guess some fans feel like they’re owned lip service. Results are all that matters to me.

Pfft. Oh boy, Cohen's executive assistant typed up a generic "we're disappointed" email. Mets fans should celebrate like they won the World Series!!!

Would you prefer
“The team played well”
“We have some talent”
“We won’t be active much this Offseason”
“We extended our manager so he doesn’t have pressure to win”

Who cares what they say. I only care about the results on the field. This "message to Mets fans" is worthless.

I’m not sure if those are real quotes or not, seems like a lazy over-generalized attempt at capturing past offseason statements with disingenuous “quotes”. Either way I’m not sure why any of that matters more than the actual end-of-season standings. Do you really get your panties in a wad over this?

Sometimes things head south. Words matter. Empty words don't matter. Saying and doing. It's best to have both- and they have to match. In this case, when you look at Cohen's actions, do you have any doubt that he tried and tried hard? Do you have any doubt that he cared? Do you have any doubt that he actually is disappointed? Saying and doing. It's best to have both- and they have to match.

Are you the newly anointed BDW bootlicker??
An owner who says results are unacceptable and will be fixed
Is just the same as one who muddles along year after year making excuse and publicly stating no help is coming???
Go play some pickleball…..

The Mets announcers …Hernandez/Darling, et all…….ripped the team big time Sunday.

Anyone know if Brad and Chip ripped the cards??

After the complete disaster that was the Cardinals’ 2023 season, our owner didn’t even have the stones to do a year-end press conference.

That told me all I needed to know about Bill DeWitt Jr for whom I have zero respect.

It would be stupid for them to rip them two very different situations. The cardinals said in the offseason they were taking a step back and were having a run way season. The Mets spent hundreds of millions trying to win and failed. Only an idiot would think the situations are in anyway similar. The real question is did the astros announcers rip the pathetic trashtros they were trying to win and will see as many post season games as the cardinals this season

Cohen says things will be fixed, and what if they miss the playoffs again next year? Would you still appreciate Cohen saying the results are unacceptable?

These orgs are in two completely different situations too, so context matters. The Mets spent tons of money, with the obvious goal of winning a WS, and they didn’t even make the playoffs. The Cards were in a self-imposed rebuild/reset and told you that they were trying to build their farm and development system first before getting back to a higher payroll.

So why did you need them to come out and say that missing the playoffs was an unacceptable result when they told you it wasn’t even really a priority?

I was impressed by his apology. It was required and he delivered.

We can't say we weren't communicated with.
