only one NL playoff spot to be determined on last day of regular season

The National League playoff field is mostly set. The Brewers have clinched the top seed, followed by the Phillies, Dodgers, Cubs and Padres. The Brewers and Phillies each get a bye through the first round. The Cubs will host the Padres in the Wild Card round. The Dodgers will be hosting the other Wild Card matchup but their opponent has not yet been determined. The Reds and Mets are currently tied for the final spot with identical 83-78 records, though the Reds hold the tiebreaker.
The Reds can get into the playoffs with a win or a Mets loss. For the Mets to get in, they need to win and have the Reds lose. In Milwaukee, the Reds are sending Brady Singer to the mound to face Freddy Peralta of the Brewers. The Mets are in Miami and are giving the ball to Sean Manaea against Edward Cabrera of the Marlins.

Freddy Peralta is a very tough assignment for the Reds. I wonder though if Brewers will rest some of their position players.

Peralta will be tough, but I doubt if the Brewers will allow him to pitch more than about 75 pitches. On the Reds side, Singer is not their best, but he has pitched fairly well this month. Brewers have the bye, so they will not play again until Saturday. Their players will get plenty of rest, and unless they are hurting, I think they will play. I don't think the Brewers want to end the regular season on a 3 game losing streak.

I'll be rooting for the Blue Jays and Tigers to win their divisions.....don't care about the last WC in the NL....I can't bring myself to rooting for either of those teams...the pond scums or the dreds....

Peralta already taken out after 2 innings, and DL Hall promptly gives up a HR to Friedl. 2-0 Reds but the Brewers get 1 run in the bottom 3rd.

Brewers get a 2 run HR from Danny Jansen in the 4th to take a 3-2 lead over the Reds, but the Mighty Marlins have busted out to a 4 zip lead over the Mutts after 4 innings. Brewers get another run in 4th, 4-2 now.

Pond scum fail to score in the top of 8th trailing 4-0 to the Fish. Reds still down 4-2 coming up in the 9th.

Reds going to the playoffs, as Lindor grounds into a game ending DP for the Mutts to lose 4 zip. Reds also lost, but they have the tiebreaker over the pond scum

The Mets- - talk about a team that did not deserve to be in the playoffs. No pitching, and they lost four of six to the Nationals and Marlins. See you.
