After not trading relievers Ryan Helsley, Phil Maton and Steven Matz at the deadline. Don't you think they win at least 5 games more if these players would have been kept?

I've said this many times but I like the sound of my own voice so I'll say it again:
-DFA Fedde and replace with McG 1 month sooner
-send Pallante to the pen, replace with Matz/Leahy/Q Matthews/occassional spot start from Pallante to see if extra rest helps
-do ANYTHING with Walker besides sending the 3rd worst player in MLB out to the wolves 5x a week, minors, bench, phantom injury, whatever
Minimum 5 game swing, probably somewhere closer to 7-8, maybe even 10 when you consider the contagious effect winning has on both the team and individuals

......BDWJr had fired Mo after last season and put C. Bloom in charge to start this season.
Mo went R.O.A.D. (Retired On Active Duty) this season, the man did virtually nothing.

Sadly, the bullpen seemed to improve when they got rid of those guys.

No way helsley has been awful if they kept him he was responsible for 5 of the Mets losses take him out of the equation and they probably are at least 3 or 4 games better maybe 5 depending on who they got instead of him. In addition it hasn’t been the bullpen that’s killed the cardinals since the deadline it’s been pretty good at holding leads when they had them it’s been the starting rotation and offense that has killed them. The only thing that would have changed if they kept them was the cards would lose them at the end of the season without getting anything in return. They would have still missed the playoffs

If they were the only team in the league, but would doubtlessly lose in the first round.

… they would have fired Mo 6-7 years ago when the down turn started, and if management still cared, which they obviously don’t. Hopefully a few more years of empty seats will lead to a sell, and hopefully to someone who cares about sports. Going to be a long time with the current lack of talent.

They are. And if they did squeak into the playoffs and get pummeled ownership would likely call it a success and delay the necessary rebuild.

The Cards had fired Mo three years ago.
