Has there ever been a stranger, less impactful, non-noticeable front office hire than this guy was? I mean, what was this? They hired him as GM and he was basically not allowed to speak in public. Honestly, for good reason. No one heard from him nor knew what exactly he did. Then, we hire Chaim and I think Girsch may actually be working at Home Depot now.

With great curiosity we all wonder how that “Special Project” he’s been working on is progressing

Haha, I've wondered this myself for years. Apparently, both Mo and Oli were interviewed on different STL stations today. Wonder if they shed any light on the Girsch conundrum. My assumption is he was brought on to be the fall guy for all of Mo's disastrous moves.

The only time I recall hearing him speak on camera was a short interview he had with Jimmy "the Cat" Hayes in the dugout at Busch. Nothing significant was discussed.

Making puppets out of people completely negated any real talents they could’ve brought to the table. It’s the worst form of micromanagement.

Who knows if Girsch was any good? Who knows if Oli’s any good? Maybe Mo himself might could’ve been good at his job but instead he watered down every upper level managerial role in the organization.

He over empowered himself and handcuffed everyone else. If he thought they weren’t qualified to the point he had to do their jobs for them he shouldn’t have hired them in the first place. It’s why it’s a good thing his era is over. Nowhere to go but up from a situation like that.

I struck up a conversation with a stranger once while hiking who said he was from St Louis. And somehow it came out that he was a neighbor of Girsch in Webster Groves, and he even said his daughters went to the same school as Girsch's kids. Anyways, the guy told me something like the fans may not hear much but rest assured he is a very bright guy and he has a very big impact on the Cardinals. So for what it's worth, there's a second hand testimony. I think this was fall or winter of 2021.

I’m guessing there is a ton of work that occurs in a major league front office, and most of it is below the surface. If that’s where he was primarily working, he could easily be a stud and we’d have no way of knowing. I hope that is indeed the case.

He had a cushy job. I imagine he had his office set up like George Costanza in Seinfeld when he worked for the Yankees a bunk built underneath to sleep with room for an alarm clock and snacks

He was MO’s version of a puppy. I remember the interview on MLB network when he was hired and Mo was asked if Girsch would handle personnel decisions and Mo replied not yet but maybe someday. I saw them once at the stadium and Girsch was following Mo around like a puppy two steps behind.
