It’s interesting that two 3b considered some of the best of all time had bad experiences as Cardinals

Scott Rolen notoriously didn’t get along with TLR.
He also had a bad shoulder injury and some of that relationship drama related to this injury.
Rolen grew up a Cardinal fan, he eyed being a Cardinal long before he actually become one.
And it wasn’t the romantic and super huge success it could have been despite it working out okay for both sides.
Arenado wanted to be a Cardinal long before he become one.
Romanticized being a Cardinal and what that meant.
It obviously went horribly for both sides.
Interesting this club has had two HOF caliber 3B who romantically wanted to be Cardinals and in both cases it’s a sour ending.

there was a lot of Try Hard in this...so your effort is commendable.
But this was beyond dumb.
sorry.

Rolen put up great numbers here and seems a happy participant in team reunions. 2007 was a dreary year for the team in general and it was the right move to trade him after. Arenado had his best year here. His decline after '22 has been jarring and the next two years could be even worse. But if his experience here were so bad he wouldn't have declined the Houston trade.

WTF? Rolen had the best years of his career in STL, including two WS appearances with one title. How is that a "bad experience?" Sheesh.....

No I said romanticized and I meant romanticized.
Arenado long romanticized being a Cardinal.
He loved the yearly push to contend, the packed house every game, the history and meaning of being a Cardinal
He spoke in this before becoming a Cardinal and after
It didn’t turn out that way at all as everything changed

Agreed!
Rolen chose the STL Cardinals for his HOF baseball cap.

This. Grand slam in 1964 World Series to help us beat the hated Yanks and take a 2-1, all-time World Series lead against them.

Don't forget Ken Oberkfell, who got a bad hot dog in 1983.

In Rolen's case LaRussa was a (buzz), (bleep) over Ozzie, so [fork]ing over Rolen was nothing to him...but LaRussa got results so fans let it slide. Arenado had the bad misfortune to play for the Cards when they decided to go full [decelerate].
