Mikolas is pitching a bit better now that the pressure is off.

Mikolas is doing a passing job this year at being a BOTR pitcher and he's eating innings. In other words, a little value.

I think what has soured everyone so badly is this:
- Twice he has had a very good or excellent year and Mo has rewarded him with a ridiculous extension soon thereafter.
- He's a Mo player and carries an arrogance & minimize own fault attitude like Mo.
- We have paid him to be a no. 2 pitcher and rarely got that.

Mikolas, if he's willing accept a downgrade in salary, could pitch in the majors next year. It all depends. But it should not be with the Cardinals.

Agree
And nobody will pay him anything close to $18M

The only idiot that would pay MM is retiring and will finally be doing something he’s capable of——-yard work.

All of the above is true.

Now consider that he’s been our best starting pitcher for the past 6 weeks.

Consider that baseball has a lot of randomness.

Mo would. Just hope he doesn't do it in the next two weeks!

I don't see Mikolas coming back as a Cardinal. But, probably wouldn't whine if he got a 1 year contract for 5M. He has been our most consistent in a wildly inconsistent rotation.

Of course. But 3/5 of the rotation are (supposedly) the future. I’m skeptical.
