Memphis OF

Memphis could have a very interesting OF to start the season next year. I expect the Cardinals to exercise Jordan Walker's last option at the beginning of the season. I also expect them to promote Joshua Baez to start the season. I'm less certain- but they could also promote Chase Davis. He has hit over .300 since the All-Star break and has cut down (somewhat) on his strikeouts. Just an aside, is Chase his given name, or a nickname he earned along the way? (Kidding) There still aren't many extra base hits from Davis. That would give Memphis a 1st round pick in decline (Walker), a 2nd round pick on the rise, and a 1st round pick possibly coming out of decline. A lot of potential there. I hope something materializes.

Either Church or Scott will probably be in Memphis also

I could literally see an infield of
C Crooks/Pages
1B Burleson
2B Wetherholt
SS Winn
3B Donovan
I think that this is completely plausible. What I just can’t imagine is the Cardinals not completely overhauling their outfield. We have went for years with one of the least productive outfields in baseball. Start Walker in AAA next year and let him play everyday and try to develop. We need at least two productive outfielders. I could see Church or Scott ll in the outfield BUT only if the two new productive outfielders are corner outfielders. If one would happen to be a CF?? sorry Church/Scott ll, see ya.

Clueless.

Davis is a bust, and so is Walker. It's time to admit what we see with our very own eyes.

Scott has been our team leader in WAR by at least one major measure. Weird but true.

Yeah, his D is among the best in MLB. 17 OAA and +13 DRS. Too bad he can't hit. That 1.8 fWAR is all D and base running.

Ozzie was worse than Scott. Scott needs to do what Ozzie did. After a year or 2 of chopping down bunting and improving his obp, his bat to ball skills actually improved and his offense was playable.

Scott doesn't have the artifcial turf that made Ozzie a success.

People acting like Scott has no hope to improve with the bat after his 1st full year in the league... and while providing a pretty high floor of value with his defense and baserunning. Ridiculous.

Can't argue with you. They may be, but if you aren't ready to just cut bait with them, AAA is the place for them and I will be interested to see how it goes.

Which is a perfect example why WAR is a bogus stat.

The Cards OF will certainly be a key focal point of the offseason after the rotation.
With two weeks to go I can’t remember a time when there wasn’t even ONE GIVEN for the OF for the upcoming season:
Noot?- traded?
Burleson?- his bat plays but he could also 1B/DH.
Church?- backup? AAA? Whatever?
Donovan?- LF? IF? Trade bait?
Walker?- AAA Option? Trade bait? Who knows??
Scott?- great defense and speed but plate approach needs a lot of work. Hopefully he can figure out which base to throw to next year?

Anyone on the cusp from AA/AAA???
Quite a mish mosh!

Ozzie didn't play all his games on turf. He improved drastically over a period of time. I watched it. To say the turf made him a success is just wrong. Did it help? Sure.
