Get younger guys with some speed and know how to bunt . At least we can move guys on the bases better. Now with this current bunch.

What's most needed is some power, and that's what Gorman was supposed to provide. The Cardinals are 28th in HRs.

He's a mistake hitter when it fits into his small zone of power. He needs to be traded or DFA'ed and left in the minors to stew until he hits 28 or 29 and finds a workable place he can consistently make contact from.

I agree. And as much as I wanted Gorman and or Walker to provide that needed power, both have failed. I don't see any power prospects that are close in the system. JJ should provide some, but not what we were looking for. I will be very interested in hearing Blooms philosophy on how to generate enough offense to score runs. Could be time to try going with speedier players and higher obp. We have 2 guys, Winn and Scott, who could be coached/convinced to emphasize obp. Wetherholt should provide it. Saggese shows signs of being one of those guys. Hopefully one or both of Crooks and Bernal upgrade our pathetic offense at that position. Herrera is already there. Point is, it's easier to come up with these kind of guys.

Edit: It goes without saying we aren't going to buy power any time soon. When Contreas contract is traded/ runs out that's it for awhile.

Another bad play at 3rd last night which wasn't an error. I liked Gray's reaction. Another point I made a few weeks ago was when he thought he had hit a HR and the ball went off the top of the wall for a single because he wasn't running out of the box, I noticed Donovan assumed nothing last night on his HR and was busting it down the line until the ball cleared the wall.

I believe it is time to move on from Gorman and Walker.

Agree. I was saying trade him two years ago. And many were saying they should trade Donovan instead. Since then Donovan has become an All-Star and his stock has risen while Gormans has plummeted. Melville and many others were always talking about how great Gorman was going to be.

I am okay with trading anyone on this roster at this point. However trading Donovan two years ago and keeping Gorman would have been the wrong choice. We have struggled through injuries and poor performance by Gorman. Had Cards traded Gorman two years ago they would have got near peak value and trading Donovan now would be near peak value.

What really gets me is that with Arenado out, Gorman finally got steady playing time at the position you know he wants to play, and he wasted the opportunity. With last nights play and the several games before, he looks worse than ever. At first he was showing signs of belonging, but not anymore. It’s time to let him try to figure it out somewhere else. Arenado is still on the team for 2026, maybe that changes, but even if it doesn’t, to me Saggese and Wetherholt have passed him by on the need to play list, so he has no place on the 2026 team. I wish him luck.

good analysis on the small zone of power.
agree he needs to be traded.
would any team want him?
he'd have to be a "throw in"

Not enough positions in a MLB lineup to hide a 14 HR & 37.5 SO rate. No reason to mention defense cus there is none.

No doubt the market will be strong for such a player. Yet another waste of time and resources.
