8 losses in a row. Somehow even with how bad the Cardinals have been playing they're still 3.5 games out....
I gotta believe that if the Mets miss the playoffs heads are going to roll there.
Gotta be one of the worst collapses of the last 20-30 years.

Yea the cardinals were playing like they wanted to get eliminated from the wild card early and the Mets refuse to let them

Agree completely.
If they want to grow the game getting rid of blackouts is step 1.

Even the Mets bad play doesn't compare to when I was a teenager and watched the 1964 Phillies collapse as Cardinals won the pennant on the final day.
The Phillies had a 6.5 game lead with 12 games left.
If the Mets keep this up , though it isn't for the division title, it could be right up there with collapsed. They still have a dozen to play though.

I guess I am old school and in the minority, but a team like we have now, being remotely in a playoff race is ridiculous. MLB has watered things down to the point where I find it difficult to get excited.

I hear ya. I'm an old fan too. If this team somehow got in, and had a home game, I suspect the attendance would be embarrassing and for good reason.

In the wildcard round, the 3 and 4 seeds are all home games. But I agree otherwise.

I'm not even old but I remember a saying you shouldn't be able to call yourself a contender until you are above 0.500. Too bad that really isn't true anymore.
