If we’d just won the last 4 games this week that we lost, we’d be in playoff position right now. It was that close.

Didn’t help that we traded half our pen and refused to bring up JJW.

And if Mets won last four cards would be 8 out

Difference is, they aren’t trying to lose

Did the Mets buy or sell at the trade deadline?

Cards aren't exactly trying to lose, but they sold off at the deadline. Not so with the Mets.

Well they did the smart thing. It would have been dumb to keep them hoping the Mets have an epic collapse really dumb. And it’s not like helsley and maton would be helping helsley has collapsed and maton had been meh and if they kept them svanson and O’Brien would still be riding the Memphis shuttle instead of being on the team contributing consistently

I begged to differ. We traded half of our bullpen for players that aren’t on the major league roster. And our GM refuses to bring up JWW who could arguably produce a lot more than our existing left side of the infield.

Trading Helsley might be the reason we are STILL in the playoff race

Dude has absolutely tanked the Mets

So they were supposed to be dumb and keep those pitchers two of which wouldn’t be helping much anyway in the hope and prayer that the Mets epically collapse? They still have four teams ahead of them

If Jesus Baez doesn’t turn into a winner, then it won’t be THAT smart. It will just be doing what the iPad said to do.

Meanwhile, I don’t subscribe to the belief that Helsley would have the same stats in Aug if he remained in St. Louis instead of uprooting his life and moving across the country. He wanted to stay here for a reason. Maybe Home cooking means more to him than we can understand.

We can never know for sure, but that’s my thought

Fairpoint. Maybe he’s our Trojan horse. We still should’ve brought up JJW weeks ago.

They’ve been torching his fastball all season he was incredibly lucky getting by on just his slider and even that he was still giving up a lot of base runners and squeaking by with just his slider it was only a matter of time before they figured out his only pitch and started hitting it to and they did
