Except the Cubs have 200M+ more revenue to compete with. Sorry man this thing is broken and no owner cares about the product or the fans. 2024 Cubs had 584M in revenue and the Cards had 373M. No chance they should be able to compete consistently. But they may find a flash in the pan here or there.11WSChamps wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:20 pm There's no reason for them not to be competitive by 2028.
Too many resources if ownership wants to plug holes.
Cubs have always had more financial capacity and the Cardinals still dominated the division so they have already proven they can do more than compete in the Central.shebashab wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:41 pmExcept the Cubs have 200M+ more revenue to compete with. In 30 days or less, I could make the Cardinals a 50/50 contender to win the division in 2026 - and 75/25 to gain a WC spot.Dewey Kuey wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:04 pm Cardinals win top spot in their division again?

This saved me 10 minutes of thinking and typing. Thank you kindly.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 14:05 pm Here's how I see it going down:
-The minor league system is already "re-built" with C. Bloom's player development system in place beginning in 2024.
-This Winter/Next season he'll start weeding out the dead-weight, and this team is LOADED w/dead-weight.
-Bloom will then accumulate as many prospects as he can during this offseason and again in 2026 via trades.
-He'll then hire "his" Manager after 2026 (sadly BDWJr will bring back Oli for 2026 knowing he's NOT going spend any money to improve the roster).
-Hopefully no lockout in 2027, that's the year Dewitt loosens the purse strings (back to a $175+M payroll) and let's Bloom add some impact players!
-"Re-build" should be complete by 2027 season (JMO).

I doubt I will be around to see it happen. I can only hope.Dewey Kuey wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:04 pm Cardinals win top spot in their division again?

Have lost the last three league championship series combined record of 4-12. More concerning. Most years without WS appearance is 18 years. We currently sit at 12.Dewey Kuey wrote: ↑13 Sep 2025 13:04 pm Cardinals win top spot in their division again?
