It just shows how far this franchise has fallen.... sigh. I know we will struggle to .500 next year as well, but let's hope we get to watch young players develop rather than guys like Hampson who have no reason to be on any MLB roster.

Sigh...

Hampson was on the roster to precisely give young players playing time. He served as a little-used IF/OF backup while players got a long leash.

Obviously everyone is entitled to their personal viewpoint on the future of the team.
There can be a fine line between optimism and pessimism.
I choose optimism....but that doesn’t mean someone who is pessimistic is wrong. Again...it’s personal!
You mention watching the young players in 2026.
Some still in the process of emerging- Winn, Herrera, Burleson, McGreevy
Some struggling- Walker, Gorman, Scott
Some just arriving- Wetherholt, Crooks,
Some getting close- Matthews, Doyle, Josh Baez, Bernal, etc

Personally I don’t see it as gloom and doom but admit that 2026 could be rough.
Go Cards!

Who should the Cards build this new team around?
Players like:

Ronald Acuña Jr. Braves
Shohei Ohtani Dodgers
Mookie Betts Dodgers
Bobby Witt Jr. Royals
Aaron Judge Yankees
Juan Soto NY
Corbin Carroll Diamondbacks
Kyle Tucker Cubs
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Blue Jays

Not going to rip on Hampson. Guy was a 26th man. He didn't do anything to hurt the team. The problem is this team has too many 26th men. All thanks to Jackass Johnny bow ties. What a putz.

Too many players on this team are JAG, they need to be gone.

Easy to complain and say the team is full of "JAG's", but who are you going to replace them with? Not enough playing time for the young guys now, to bring another youngster and let him sit on the bench is crazy.
The team is rebuilding. It is the new mantra in baseball. There are only about 5 or 6 teams that can buy their way out of player shortages and STL is NOT one of them. If you don't have the patience to watch a rebuild, then maybe you should be a Dodger fan.
