Will Bloom be able to get a needed power hitter and needed TOR starting pitcher via trades?

Or will DeWitt need to OK signing/paying some high priced FAs to fill those needs? How about one by a trade and one FA? That seems to make some sense.

Who on this current roster could bring back a "power hitter" and a "TOTR starter" via trades?
Answer, of course, is no one.
And even if a "Goldy'NADO" deal was pulled off by C. Bloom, BDWJr is NOT going to okay the move since those type players are in the
$20M - $40+M AAV range.

"Who on this current roster could bring back a "power hitter" and a "TOTR starter" via trades?" My guess, Mason Winn could bring one or the other. Wetherholt has been playing a lot of shortstop in the minors this season. I'm not advocating trading Winn. I am just answering the question with my opinion.

No chance.
There isn't a POBO/GM in MLB who would give the Cardinals a "power hitter" or a "FOTR" starter for an all glove, light hitting
(career: .252 .304 .376 .680) SS.
That said, I'd have no issue dealing Winn in a package that brings back a #2 starter w/years of control.
But no way he brings back that TOTR/#1 starter.

You are underestimating the value of a young, Gold Glove caliber shortstop. For Winn, a crafty GM could get a #2 starting pitcher with some years of contract control or a talented young power hitter from a team that is overstocked at a position/positions, no doubt

Why don’t you give some specific names. You just said you’re
NOT advocating trading Winn. So whom would a “crafty GM” trade who realistically would fetch a “young, cost-controlled” TOTR pitcher
OR MOTO power hitter, let alone
BOTH?

I think Bloom looks for at least one starting pitcher through trade.

It has been reported payroll will go down or stay neutral. Therefore neither of those will happen. I just hope the owner understands fans will not come back until we have superstars to watch. His choice. In 2022 the payroll was $178m and according to forbes they had a $46m profit. This season $128m and making a $2m profit. More payroll equals more profit.

More than likely, the pitcher you get back would have less years of control than Winn. A major league SS for a major league #2 starter doesn't seem like a very common type of trade. Not in the positon the Cardinals are in. When you get closer to contention you think about trading strengths for weaknesses. At this point, the Cardinals should be developing and allowing the players they have to rise to the top. You could probably trade Wetherholt for an ace. Again, that's more of a buy now move, like the one you suggest.
