He’s at his worst when it counts and there’s any semblance of pressure. No natural feel for the game and very poor situational awareness. Way too high tolerance for losing, views it as good teaching moments.

Like last night, it felt like the first meaningful game in months and could’ve put us in striking distance of a playoff spot and he pulls MM at 77 pitches when he’s pitching his best game of the year and is currently in a rare groove, and starts making head scratcher moves to blow the game.

Good points but frankly I have no problem with pulling MM. that guy couldn’t throw 100 pitches if his life depended on it. Sure there are exceptions when he does well but if I were the manager he would be on a short leash every time he pitched. Now if you want to critique his bullpen selection last night there is an argument he made a mistake.

I’m not an Oli fan. Primarily I don’t like his lack of experience and what looks like a lack of feel for the game. You might say pulling MM shows a lack of feel but again I would have done the same thing.

Ok, I looked at the box score and saw he gave up 2 in the 5th. I must’ve crashed right before the runs because I thought the BP gave up all 4 runs. West coast games are rough on work nights. So I stand corrected on him having his best game, but I stand by my observations as to the question of what specifically makes him a bad manager.

Hes a pud that isn't qualified to manage a team like the St. Louis Cardinals. A middling .500 manager who needs no pressure to win games should be in another level.

Seriously? You think pulling lizard puke who was [defecating] the bed, was a mistake?!!

Cards hitters were 0-1 with RISP, and only had 2 LOB.
Bats nowhere to be found. 3 hits for the game

I know the analytics gurus say batting average doesn't matter but the Cardinals lineup last night was this.

    https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cardinals-v ... 21-mlb-1-A

Nootbar leading off .241 - leadoff hitter???
    Herrera .283
    Burleson .286
Gorman .219 Really? Cleanup hitter is hitting .219?
    Winn .253
    Crooks .119
    Saggesse .242
    Walker .215
    Scott .224

    3 hits. 1 walk. 14 strikeouts.

Gorman has been on the team for all 4 seasons Marmol has been manager. Marmol thinks Gorman is a cleanup hitter. Or perhaps in the bizarre world of analytics a computer thinks Gorman is a cleanup hitter. Bloom needs to call in a cleaning crew. Set up a dumpster outside of the office and get rid of everything his predecessors were relying.

I have never really liked or disliked Oli, or any manager for that matter. I have always felt the players deserve the majority of the blame/credit because they are the ones throwing the pitches and taking the at bats. Sure, managers do make bonehead moves.

I remember years ago people talked about the Expected Win/Loss record being the reflection of a manager. Meaning, if your Actual record was better than the expected Win/Loss, they credited that to good managing. The Cardinals expected win/loss is 68-77, but their actual record is several games better at 72-73. Is that credit to Oli, or is it all a bunch of [nonsense]?

Under a competent front office, the Cardinals should never have a bad team. This is Mozeliak's failure. A better front office acquires a better roster. And hires a more capable manager.

How much more do you need? Needing a pressure-free situation screams not qualified.
