Gutted out 2 wins this weekend

Against a red hot Giants team

This team should not be a .500 team and yet they are. They may not have the "talent" but they have the WILL and WANT to compete and win every day.

I'd hate to say it, but I think that reflects more on the manager than anything. Oli has them going out there and competing on a daily basis since they all-star break.

One of 2 NL teams that are 7-3 in last 10.

4.5 out of wildcard

It's horrible they are in the division with MLBs best team. The Crew

Why shouldn’t it be a .500 team? They had just about the same team as last year that won 83 games

Last years team didn't sell off 3 of its top relievers at the trade deadline. Arenado, Donovan, and Burly are now all out as well.

You guys can scream and holler about how if only this team had a better manager they'd be so much better as much as you want, but it doesn't make it true.

Solidifying the rotation for 2026 will be the key.
If Bloom can....this team can compete for a playoff berth.

And you screaming about how great he is doesn’t make it true either. His job is to develop the young players but they havent been good or developed much. Arenado said when they were winning in may the team the last couple of years came to the ballpark hoping things went well instead of expecting them to go well the manager builds the culture of the team and apparently that’s the culture oli has created hoping they go well instead of expecting them to go well. So I’m not as impressed by a .500 team as you are I said before the season started they would again be around a .500 team I’ve been right so far. You were probably one of the ones saying this is a 90+ win team

Ok, please reference in any post ever made by myself where I labeled Oli as "great". Thanks. I'll hang up and listen.

So you’re defending a mediocre manager then? Or are you valiantly defending a decent manager

I've never labeled him as anything. Never good. Never bad. It's just funny to see you guys get bent out of shape day in and day out over a manager with a below average roster. Managers get way too much credit for winning and way too much blame for losing. Unless you're a manager who has completely lost a clubhouse, which Oli hasn't, you aren't a "bad" manager.

Well why are you guys bent out of shape over defending a manager who is irrelevant to the team if managers don’t matter. I think it is as a damning statement against oli when arenado said the team has came to the ballpark hoping things go good the past couple of years (after yadi and pujols retired) instead of expecting them to go well. That means it’s not a culture of winning that oli has created but one of hoping that’s not a good manager

How this turned into another bash Marmol thread I don’t know. I’m certainly not a Marmol fan but this team had no business winning 2 out of three against the Giants this weekend. The lineup they used had Winn hitting cleanup and 4-5 players who should still be playing in the minors somewhere.

They were thumped on Friday. Verlander held them in check and the Giants had the Cardinals shutout on Saturday until the Giants closer couldn’t get anyone out in the ninth inning. Today, Teng was struggling to throw strikes but it didn’t matter because we were swinging at everything and Teng K’d 8 in 4 innings while walking 5.

Hats off to the Cardinals for finding a way to win the series with an inferior lineup.

Why did they have no business winning 2 of 3 they got decent starting pitching the past two days and have a very good bullpen to close out leads

C’mon. Be honest. A lineup that has Winn hitting cleanup, has an outfield of Scott, Church and Nootbaar. Has an infield that included Saggese and Fermin. Walker was 0 for his last 25. They were missing regulars Contreras, Donovan, Burleson and Arenado.

No offense and as you said “decent starting pitching”. I’m glad they won. I’m a Cardinal fan until I die but this is an inferior product. This team shouldn’t have won 2 out of three but they did and as I said, I tip my cap to them. I also agree that the bullpen has been strong.
