Why he is on the roster? Seriously?
Are they trying to get him service time as a charity case

Arenado recommended him said he’s a great guy and teammate

I think Hampson got copies of the incriminating photos that Roycroft has????

LOL
So a buddy of Arenado gets to ride the pine just because
This organization is a train wreck
Since these games don’t matter shouldn’t they give a look to somebody who might contribute in 2026

Hampson is the 26th man on the roster and seldom plays. I guess if you want to see how a younger player looks sitting on the bench you could bring up someone.

I didn’t know the 26th man was required to sit on the bench, my bad
What a hollow argument

More to the point, Mozeliak likes the way Hampson sits on the bench at a very modest salary. They went cheap to start the season and it continues here in September. Bringing up a younger player like Wetherholt to enhance his development for next year has always been a money decision. For God’s sake, we can’t start that service time clock. God forbid we put the best players in the organization on the field.

If his job wasn’t to sit on the bench…he wouldn’t be the 26th man.

I’ve never heard of “never using the 26th man”
Other teams have functional 26th men
You mean to tell me you like playing short handed
Why didn’t they let Prieton stay up?
I know Hampson stinks

It’s no more curious than why Ryan Fernandez is on the roster. They both have just enough promise that they cannot deliver.

Just because you have a 26th roster spot doesn’t mean you have to use it on a pathetic player who is no good and so useless you never use him.

I've been trying to figure out why he's on the roster for months now. Because the idiots in the front office say so.

Using a reset season or runway season or whatever the heck they're calling it, should be used to play the guys who are in future plans. But that would mean there is a plan. This whole season has been a typical half-[ashed] Mozeliak mess. He did nothing to initiate a reset. He sat around all winter with his thumb up his (donkey). Couldn't trade the NTCs. He simply let old free agents walk. No effort Johnny jackass.

I mean if you play the 26th man, then the guys people want getting regular looks and starts get to rarely play. People are already complaining about walker sitting on bench instead of getting at bats to wkrk it out and you want another person taking more at bats away from him? Churchs playing time has also been sporadic since scott returned.
Hampsons actually 28th man now.
There is no scenario where 14 players get regular everyday at bats. Its better to have playing time more streamlined and this a few people you dont worry about not getting at bats

Church and walker already rarely play. Fermin rarely plays.
People want it both ways. They complained early in season when gorman didnt get every day at bats. Some people complain walker wont get right sitting on bwnch. But then they complain about having these vets thT never play on bench. Theres no scenario where you can get 14- now 14 guys regular at bats.
Hampson can play defense snywhere and pinch run as a use if we actually were competing. Since we arent, he still is player we dont mind sitting on bench. Cuz bringing up someone else you have to worry about giving playing time to is just gonna eat even more into the at bats of walker church etc.

It used to be a 25 man roster. They added one. To be used in emergency. A spot start occasionally as a reward for patience and knowing your role.
If a manager planned well, maybe more opportunities would arise, particularly on the base paths.
