Gorman improved defense was aided by Arenado pointers recently

We have all noticed how after a string of errors that Gorman's defense lately has bee quite a bit better.
In postgame comments with Jimmy the Cat Hayes, Gorman was asked about his improvement lately .
First he said more comfortable with added reps ..then added " Arenado was in Miami (that Marlin series ) and we got talkin a little bit and he gave me some pointers '..

Shows that Arenado wants to help his teammates despite being out of action himself. Nice that Gorman gave Nado credit . The pointers sure were good ones . Love to know what they were . Nice going , Nado ! You have helped the team even when being out of action . Now that's a team player !

I overheard the conversation:

1. If the ball comes anywhere near you, try to catch it.
2. Don't throw it over the head of the 1B.
3. Don't throw it way to the right of the 1B.
4. Don't throw it way to the left of the 1B.

Arenado probably told him to try to make the plays with his eyes open. It’s a proven fact that if you keep your eyes open when the play comes to you, you increase your ability to make the play substantially.

Clearly neither Gorman nor N/A got the memo.
The preferred communication is to publicly trash players.
Missed opportunity by each of them.

Probably the most WAR they've gotten out of Arenado all year.

True. They must've had a secret meeting away from the coaching staff.

Not sure some verbal comments make that much difference. Regardless with what NA is getting paid, the least he could do is mentor one of the younger guys. It’s not like he has been busy this year hitting the ball.

So he had a talk, and is now a better baseball player? Not happening. And as you noted, where has this talk been? Seems this topic would be a regular topic on a long flight to somewhere.

Why would it be a regular topic? Gorman just started playing 3B recently.

Ok. He played third a lot. Seems like the time to have that conversation would have been ago when he first played there? That’s been months?

Him playing third has long been rumored. I’d say it would be a topic. Regular? Who knows the level. But a conversation at least.

Most of this is conjecture.

Just because Gorman had like a spot start at 3B in May doesn't mean Arenado needs to run a workshop with him.

Did you ever think that Gorman getting a ton of innings at 3B in August maybe opened up some insights to his weaknesses and what he needs to work on?

So Bulldog says Gorman is a horrible 3B. Then there's talk of Gorman improving through the guidance of Arenado and now you're criticizing that?

LOL okay...

He's made some really nice plays the past two nights, getting comfortable being back on the left side of the diamond.

I was watching him closely the last two nights (I was at the stadium), he's moving his feet a lot better and has found his proper release point (a LOT different at 3rd base than you use at 2nd base) which is improving his throw! :D

He'll never be anywhere near GG caliber but he could surprise some and be no worse than league average ( 0 DRS/0 OAA).

Yea. I don’t think he’s good. And I don’t think a chat got him better over night. That’s my point.

Maybe he is getting better. It could only help the team if he could play third, and then his bat.

He has always had very good hands, and his arm strength is superior to N/A's.
He is fine going to the right but does not have N/A's range to the left - or on charging slow hit balls in front of him.
You are correct.
Not a GG - but plenty good enough to be one of the better 3B's in MLB.
