Interesting topic, albeit a bit tone deaf, based on all that has been spoken by and written about the Cards and their “reset”, where they intend to reduce the MLB roster payroll and invest in MiLB player development. But yeah, Sandy’s cool.

They are not targeting any named pitcher. Expect a journeyman and made a washed up guy trying to salvage a payday.

Have you listened to the cardinals say they are focusing on development the next 2 seasons.

Whether we agree with or not, i just dont get why one would start a thread wondering if we could.

We wont. Managemebt has said as much. Either protest and dont buy cardinals gear or accept it. But for the life of me i dont get why you would still tell yozrself this is a possibility. It isnt. Cardinals arent targetting any top dollar free agents thia offseason whether we like it or not.

Ive kindanlost interest and stopped following as closely this year as i used to and probably will drift away more next year.

Have to side with Wattage on this one. There is a lockout looming and the Dewitt's are bankers. They will prefer the safe route versus the expensive one at this point. 2026 will be new guys via trades mixed in with current roster and some youth. Roll into the lockout and then see where the team sits and what the market holds for teams. It could be a lost season if they really go hard for some sort of salary cap. That will wreck havoc on the 3 to 5 year contract players. The Dewitt's will play safe on this one. Not to mention Bloom will not want come out of the gate with some splashy deals to then have them sit on the shelf in a lockout. All of a sudden guys get rusty have a bad second season and everyone scape goats Bloom for bad signings.

It's pretty clear they aren't going to be buying pitching on long term contracts.

this team doesnt need late 20 year old arms, they need to rebuild and bring in young, arms.


they are not 1 season away, so stop with guys who get them 3rd place and 8 under. needs to be rebuilt

Its too soon in the rebuild to get him anyways. Lets see whats a available two years down the road.

We have Gray Libby And McG. That’s good for 40 wins. Need another stud. Need 15 plus wins.

We need a stud. Gray is a fine two. This is a rebuild with a bit of a tear down. This off season the drywall will. E ripped out of the team. Several players will leave.

Imagine if they added Tucker and Sandy. That’s the kind of players it takes. We are missing stars and faces of the franchise.

Until we pay up, we will be just a mediocre midwestern team.

I don’t have the patience or the stomach to do it, but in hearing a lot of chatter, the Cardinals have a pretty good record when we get a quality start(by today’s standards). Not sure what that record is, but with that being said, you spend some money and get two quality starters… I believe we are right back in the race. Just saying…

I don't know. If he has a good year in 2026 he will get paid by one of the big money teams. If the Cardinals can fix attendance and the tv deal only then would it be viable.
