Congratulations to 1B/3B Deniel Ortiz (A+) on being named Midwest League Player of the Week!
Ortiz, 21, led the league in nearly every offensive category including AVG, HR, RBI, OPS, H (10), BB (7), OBP (.692) & SLG (.889), while hitting safely in all 6 games of Peoria's sweep vs. South Bend.
This marks the second weekly award for Ortiz this year, taking home Florida State League honors for the week of June 23-29.

Can you please remind me how Rainiel's defense at C is if you have the chance? Appreciate your work as always!

it's much better than the DSL Pundits were crooning this offseason. Baseball America even acknowledged they were wrong...he's more athletic behind the plate, blocking/receiving/throwing out runners. He's been the main catcher since June (Promotion) at Palm Beach. He's catching 4 times a week, DH the other and off the other.
I don't know if he'll ever be as good as Bernal or Crooks behind the plate, but he's not hurting himself...so maybe he can get even better?
Keep him behind the plate...for now....that's my call.

Congrats to Oritz and LHP Mason Molina for making the All-Prospect team for last week
https://www.mlb.com/stories/prospect-te ... 2025-09-01
Molina hurled a gem last week for Peoria vs. South Bend.....5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K
---------
Rainiel Rodriguez was snubbed from the team....I guess 3 HR, 10 RBI, .325 BA isn't good enough

....actually it wasn't to be fair ...Carter Jensen had a much better weak, and he was promoted to the Royals this week, too.

Depending on the pitching, maybe I will slip over to Western New York and see the Memphis Squad play this week in Rochester.

I think they're in Memphis this week, CNYFan. Nat's AAA are on the road?

Transactions
RHP Jack Ralston assigned to Memphis Redbirds from Springfield Cardinals.
Springfield Cardinals activated RHP Sean Harney from the 7-day injured list.

Bring him up! Would you rather see him or Gorman against a lefty with a wipeout slider?

Palm Beach enters their final week of the season, 5 games back of the final playoff spot in the FSL. They're home vs. Daytona, the team they're chasing. Palm Beach needs a sweep of the Tortugas this week to earn the playoff spot. One loss and their hopes crushed.
Palm Beach isn't a good hitting team, and they're especially brutal with RISP. Their BP is been atrocious all season. So it's a tall order...one might say "impossible".
We'll see.
-------------
Peoria's playoff hopes are done...this is their last week. They can play spoiler vs. Beloit, who leads QC by 1.5 games in the MWL West standings. The Chiefs swept the Cubs last week, dropping them to 3 games back....so they're on quite a role. The Chiefs have never had an offensive outburst like the one they're experiencing the last 2 1/2 weeks. Close the season strong....wreck Miami's High A team's playoff dreams

Springfield is coming off 3 straight Extra inning walk-off wins .
They're on the road @ NW Arkansas (Royals), so they can't walk-off any games this week. And let's hope they can avoid anymore Extra Inning games....like blowing a 4 run lead in the 9th.....which leads me to my next Springfield point:
CUT RHP Edwin Nunez....he's serves no use other than Hitting Batters, Damaging Back Stops, Blowing Games....he found control 2 years ago in Peoria....and hasn't seen it since....6 seasons as a pro...and only 1 of them was under control.
------------
12 more games left in the AA season...then Springfield will play a Bof3 against either Tulsa or Wichita. The winner gets the South Winner between Midland and probably Amarillo.

18 games left in Memphis' season....Home (6) vs. Rochester (Nats), Away (6) @ Jacksonville (Marlins), Home (6) vs. St. Paul (Twins)
they are 10 games out of a playoff spot. Not looking good. They've had a good season overall....10 games over .500.
Amazing to be 10 games over .500 when they've been decimated by Injuries to their pitching staff. Curtis Taylor has come up huge, a really good signing to spare the BP additional wear and tear. Aaron Wilkerson has added to this over the last 7 games.
