Had hoped Flaherty and Hicks would show continued improvement. Yeah no.

Shocked at how bad Helsley has been, i knew he wasn't great this year but the total collapse is crazy.

Everyone else is about exactly what I expected. Hopefully Goldy retires after this year. O'Neill seems like a nice enough guy so I'm glad he got paid, and *really* glad it wasn't by the Cards.

The only one I was upset about at the time was Randy the others IMO was whatever.

He’s has a 4.1 bWAR and some solid counting stats.

Brewers reliever Shelby Miller is headed for imaging after an ominous exit from yesterday’s game, writes Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Milwaukee skipper Pat Murphy said the 34-year-old Miller told the training staff he felt a “pop” in his elbow during yesterday’s outing.

The veteran Miller was a key bullpen pickup for the Brew Crew at last month’s trade deadline, though he came with some health risk, given that he was on the injured list due to a forearm strain at the time of the trade.

Helsley has fallen iff badly but i akso wonder if yankees also were just bad fit for him.

There were stories to media he made himself unavailable certain days. That he didnt like putching more than 1 inning. That he didnt like pitching 2 days in a row too often and refused to do 3 days. Those things qouldnt go over well with yankees media. Hes probably being forced out of his comfort zone on these issues and its also affecting him mentally besides physically

That pop means TJ. The forearm strain probably predicted that.

Bader would be nice right about now.

That said, I wouldn't buy on Bader. He's not usually this good.

Goldy, after a ridiculously hot opening stretch that was obviously fueled by his .400+ BABIP, is still doing better than what everyone should have expected him to do this year.

After his Age 36 season when he had a .717 OPS, 99 OPS+, and .169 ISO, at 37 this year he has a .748 OPS, 107 OPS+, and .142 ISO. The main surprise is that he was able to cut his K rate from a career worst 26% to 18% this year, but he did that along with lowering his walk rate to a career worst 6.7%, so basically by swinging more at everything with less power.

Goldy is just doing what 37yo sluggers do: declining. Father Time is undefeated and playing for NYY has nothing to do with it.

The 2021 Cards' outfield had the highest bWAR of any outfield in MLB -- and that went downhill fast.

O'Neil: 115 wRC+ 11.4 fWAR in 2273 PAs (2.5 WAR/500 PAs) 46 SB; 117 HR; .244/.320/.467/.787 - 2 Gold Gloves
Bader--: 95 wRC+ 15.6 fWAR in 2943 PAs (2.6 WAR/500 PAs) 104 SB; 85 HR; .245/.312/.400/.711 - 1 Gold Glove
Carlson: 92 wRC+ 2.8 fWAR in 1956 PAs (0.7 WAR/500 PAs) 16 SB; 43 HR; .234/.312/.374/.686 - 0 Gold Glove

Bader's the only one who has had a good year: 2.8 WAR and 123 wRC+. He will be in the playoffs again with the Phillies.

I recall a certain someone who predicted Carlson would be the best of the bunch, by far.

“The Poser [Bader] and Mr. Canada [O’Neill] won't make it as quality, long term starting MLB outfielders. Carlson will be a solid, productive, long term MLB starting outfielder."

relievers often "collapse." Dude had one great year. Consistent closers are very rare
