2026 Manager

I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. Part of a rebuild, is rebuilding the culture. And in my opinion, Oli is hugely responsible for the negative culture and wrong culture on the current Cardinals. He has to go. They cannot allow his toxicity to continue to permeate through the organizations young players.

So what are you doing in 2026? Do you take the chance on a first year manager? A Varitek or Yadi? Or do you bring in an established manager who has a track record? If so, who is that established manager? Maddon? Francona?

If Varitek were hired over Yadi, would Yadi be done with the Cardinals organization?

what has Yadi done that would make them think he'd want to be the manager? has he even been involved with the organization since he retired, besides his 2 day ''appearance" in the dugout?

Don’t want to see a Yadi or Albert hire. I’m looking for experienced manager from outside the organization.

Varitek is his guy.

Going outside the organization to change things up probably makes the most sense.
Although....if it came down to it I’d much rather see Skip as Manager than Oli.

Manager: Albert Pujols
Pitching Coach: Yadier Molina
Bench Coach: Daniel Descalso
OF Coach: Jon Jay
1st Base Coach: Stubby Clapp
IF Coach/3rd Base Coach: Jose Oquendo
Bullpen Coach: Chris Carpenter
Hitting Coach: Matt Holliday

To answer your question about Yadi....yes, I think he'd be done with Cards if we hired another former C over him.

I'd hire Don Mattingly in a heartbeat!

Joe Maddon, if he's interested....he's a bit older now. Short term, just to get them pointed in the right direction. Imagine them getting some legit managing experience on how to prepare and win.

I don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?

It’s toxic for a young player to see his boss hamming it up in the dugout when losing. It’s toxic for a young player to see his veteran mentors get thrown under the bus by their boss by their boss. It’s toxic for young players to see their boss not only accept, but reward and promote mediocrity.

I’m sure players do love not having to be held accountable privately. I’m sure they do love someone smiling and laughing when down by 8. They also love structure, discipline, and accountability when administered fairly and properly.

That’s as much as I’ll post about this. I’m not going to get into a childish and frivolous discussion with the king of frivolous back and forths.

Someone on here said not too long ago that there were rumors that he hasn’t involved himself that much in the organization because he can’t stand Mo. Not sure how true it is nor is it really a legitimate excuse but I do wonder if his mood will change once Mo is completely out the door.

That being said I want Bloom to do is due diligence here picking the next manager and get the guy he believes to be the most qualified. Not one that will simply be a fan favorite. If that ends up being Yadi great. As of now though Schumaker or Varitek intrigue me more than Yadi does. Simply too many unknowns about Yadi and his commitment here.

Pure speculation here but with the Brown and Jay hires I would guess Bloom is gearing towards Schu as he worked and played with both those guys. I wouldn’t be mad about Varitek though. Always been a leader and played and coached under some great managers.

Absolutely. Marmol is Mozeliak's guy, and if you remove Mozeliak's fingerprints on the organization...
