Quinn Matthews and Tekoah Roby

It's time to see what these guys have at the Major League level. I gotta believe they will each have a spot in the rotation next year, or at least a chance to earn one in spring.
They are both older than I realized. Roby is turning 24 on Sep 18. Matthews will be 25 already on October 4. They're not exactly young prospects anymore.
Both had good seasons at AAA.
Matthews: 4-5 3.49 ERA with 95 k's in 80 innings.
Roby: 7-4 3.10 ERA with 87 k's in 78.1 innings split between AA and AAA.
Wouldn't mind seeing either one for a few starts this season.

FYI, Roby had TJ surgery in late July and will likely miss all of next season.

Quinn Mathews month of August:
6 starts
31.2 innings
22 hits
13 walks
41 strikeouts
1.10 whip
2.27 ERA
That's great to see, after the way his season had gone up to that point

2027 for Roby.
I don't think pulling Mathews up serves any real objectives, either. He's demonstrated that he's not ready, so why not just let him finish up the season in AAA, ideally on a high note, and then head into the offseason looking to build upon it?
A "looksy" has no value in his case.

There was real concern about Matthews health before his resurgence. I have heard those closer to the situation saying leave him in Memphis. We all want to see the guys that may be here next year. Just doesn't look like it's going to happen with JJ or Mathews.

Glad to see he has righted the ship. The walks are still gonna be problematic at the next level. Over 3 BB/9 in AAA becomes closer to 5 at the next level.

I agree. Hopefully he will stay healthy and get enough reps over the next few years (AAA or MLB) to refine things.

"Q" for sure needs to be up here.
No sense what soever having Pitiful Pallante starting any more games (EVER).
Sadly they'll keep giving the ball to the equally inept Mikolas.

The difference between Max Roby and Tekoah Roby is that Max never missed a start.

Thanks for the insights. Being away from the city makes tribal knowledge hard to come by.

It also apparently has made it very difficult for you to do anything with your fantasy lineup

Calling up a pitcher who has struggled to work through AAA this year makes no sense. Why would you advocate for that? Just because? Cause that doesn't set the player up to succeed. They need to be hyperfocused on development and stop calling guys up because of where they rank on a prospect list.

JJW hasn't struggled at all however.
If its not one reason its another...
