I don’t think the cardinals are too far away although I’m not overly optimistic they will make the necessary changes
They will need a closer. Not everyone has the stuff and the mindset
D like to see them try to bring Healy back on a 2-3 year deal
I’d like to see 2 platoon rh outfield bats at. Minimum one that can play cf. generally those type of players are pretty inexpensive
Also this should be a veteran player that you aren’t overly concerned about not getting enough playing time and ruining their development
Wasn’t a huge Harrison Bader fan but this is an example of the type of player
I like Thomas Sageese as a utility infielder. He could back up second and third base and be a short term back up at shortstop.
I personally would look at having Contreras as the primary catcher Jimmy Crooks to get it look at the backup catcher and I looked to have Pozzo as a third string catcher. If he had three catchers on the roster, you could be more aggressive pinch hitting. That would reduce some of my concern of having so many left-handed bats
I would rather have 400 at bats in a season from Contreras as a catcher, knowing I have good backup options than getting 500 bat as a primary first base and being a slightly above average bat
If he was a 40 Homer guy, then I would be OK with playing him at first base to get as bad in the lineup
TradingArenado and no Milaski would hopefully allow for a budget to improve the starting pitching. I feel pretty good about librature and mcgreevey and gray. One top of the rotation would allow each of those guys to slide into more comfortable position.
Lineup
Donovan 2b
Herrera of
Wetherholdt 3b
Contrarus c
Burleson 1b
Gorman dh
Walker rf
Winn as
Scott cf
Unlikely that they would consider Contreras or Herrera as catchers, but that would allow her to get another bat in the lineup
I like keeping Donovan because that would allow a lot of flexibility, especially since you’re not 100% sold on other options such as Gorman, butleson and Herrera, being a capable defender
I would love to trade two of Gorman butelson Nootbar for some pitching and to reduce roster redundancy
