Remember that Flaherty v Buehler showdown back in 2018 at Dodger Stadium

Yet M. Mikolas & A. Pallante still have jobs here?
Good job Mo.

Good job Mo.
Didn’t Buehler win a World Series game last year? Or get a save? Or provide a valuable middle inning relief appearance?

Any chance the Cardinals claim Buehler?

Why not take a flyer on Buehler?

Yes!
He pitched 6 innings of shutout ball vs the Yanks!
(Four innings of shutout ball vs the Mets in the NLCS)

Absolutely- why not - isn’t this his first full year back from TJ? Probably taking some time to get in sync.
Guessing his release is more about not wanting going to the bullpen - Cards tried Pleasc at AAA - why not Buehler and give Pallante a break

Did he have TJ and that's why he missed all of 23? He was phenomenal in 21. Of course, I'd avoid STL like the plague if I were him.
This is where careers go to die.

Buehler's ERA by month in 2025:
Apr 4.28
May 4.85
Jun 11.07
Jul 3.57
Aug 4.37
That is not a typo on June. He had a horrible month. Outside of that he's been decent. Fastball doesn't have the same velocity he once sat at as a starter, but still averages over 94 mph. The main issue he has had is a BB rate higher than he used to.
Still only 31. Seems like a guy to take a chance on and give a few September starts with an eye on 2026. The bigger ballpark and good defense could help him return to numbers closer to his peak as a Dodger.

I'll be happy to take a shot at sewing his name on the back of a jersey, if that'll help get him here. I cannot imagine a universe where he is worse than Mikolas or Pallante.

Still adjusting to getting back from TJ surgery. Usually takes about a year or 2 to fully get back to full strength.
But at 31 I wouldn't give him a multi year contract or anything. It would have to be something very incentive based

Probably ought to reserve this discussion for Cardinal fans.

I see no reason not to pick him up. Go get him Mo/Bloom.

We will have to turn somewhere for SP in 2026.
