Probably not.

But I wish they would sell.

Too many unknown variables, such as:

-How long does BDW Jr. stay alive/healthy?
-Will BDW III actually be as bad as he seems in interviews? Maybe he's just terrible in public and will stay hands off as direct owner...
-Will BDW III open up the purse strings a little?
-Will BDW III be cash poor since he's just a nepo baby?

If the answers to those questions go: Not long, Yes, No, Yes ... then I think they'd sell in a decade or so, faster if the answer to the last one is yes with an exclamation point.

I think it is possible. DeWitt is 84 and to me he doesn't appear to be in the best of health. I haven't followed all of the recent tax changes with the "Big Beautiful Bill" from earlier this year. I believe that $13.99 million was exempt from taxes before the recent legislation and anything above that was taxed at 40% from estate assets. Earlier this year the Cardinals were valued at $2.55 billion. DeWitt has other assets. His kids could be looking at a significant tax bill.

No. BDW, Jr. is withdrawing into the background and (with the exception of helping set the budget) will leave all baseball decisions up to Bloom. BDW III will stay on the other side of the house.

I don’t think it’s out of the question. I would have said a hard no to that question before this year.

Joe Buck’s comments this week about the organization’s need to rebuild trust with the fanbase is spot on. Attendance this year is validation of that. If the Dewitts think rebuilding that trust comes with a high price tag, they may cash out.

IMO, that might be best for all . Dewitt III is nowhere near his father in terms of public relations. Every time he opens his mouth, he puts his foot in it. I doubt his dad has the energy or desire to be the face of an organization trying to rebuild its reputation. We’ll see.

Mo has fallen into great disfavor with the fans, and is a PR liability right now. Bloom will become the face of the Cardinals, not the DeWitts.

Pure speculation on your part. Winning will determine the "face of the Cardinals".

They're probably already all on the same page internally whether BDW III is the guy or not.

When Shannon said what he said about the team being for sale, it could have been true. I bet in any case of a team being for sale, it's being shopped around under the radar (testing the market and finding potential buyers) long before it's publicly for sale.

The way they've managed the team COULD be preparation for a lockout (I'm sure it is on some level at least) or it could be similar to a hockey player making the final dribbles (is that the right term for hockey) before launching the puck.

If true that will be good news.

...Although "helping set the budget" leaves a lot of room for meddling and preventing the team from winning consistently, which is what will be needed to return the franchise to its former glory.

ZERO chance.

At least until BDWJr (84 this weekend) is gone

I don't see Fredo (aka BDWIII) keeping the team, he's this teams version of ABIII.

If so that’s good news because III has a way of angering his customers, although he doesn’t seem to understand that.

BDW III is a PR disaster and will be kept away from interviews. The natural new face of the franchise is Bloom, and possibly also Cerfolio if he’s named GM.
