I thought that is what the Cards are committed to right now--letting the young players play, even though we know they are not currently ready for playoff caliber baseball.

Given our lackluster situation this year, we can probably afford more than 40 AB's to make a call. I think he will become more accommodated. The majors is quite a shock for most newly promoted.

Exactly. Not like Victor Scott was tearing it up after getting full “runway” all year. Give Church some ABs in MLB . He destroyed Triple A all year. Nothing more to prove there.

Like others have said, he is Scott in many ways. Great glove but can't hit.

Both are overmatched when hitting with RISP.

If this is the outfield future, then plan on losing two out of three to the Pirates and many others for years.

Who on this team doesn't look over matched most of the time? Pitiful roster. Not 1 player in MLB top 100. And no hitting coach that works on mechanics. Just throw some analytics at them and hope they make contact. The Mo and Oli show is a joke. Hopefully about to end its tortuous run.

Also happens when the idiot manager decides to bench rookies for 2 games in a row right after they seem to be figuring it out at the MLB level because he wants them to "feel good for a couple days about what they accomplished."

I hope I never meet or run into Marmol in person. I fear I'd say or do something really stupid because of how much I loathe the guy.

Yes, the kid gets two hits, including a dinger, and then he is not in the lineup the next day. Who cares about the matchup? This team isn't going anywhere so let the kid play. Marmol consistently benches guys after they have a good game. He has no concept of riding a hot player until they cool off. Zero feel for the game. I only hope he is gone at season's end....

I've posted this a few times since I heard it on a radio interview a couple weeks ago. Marmol literally said he intentionally does this so "the young player will feel good about what they've accomplished for a few days before possibly having a bad game and getting down on themself."

He also recently said he brings as much to the table as Pujols or Molina when it comes to managing. He's a f'n nightmare. He thinks he's some God's gift to coaching. It's not surprising the secret MLB poll picked him as the manager they'd never want to play for.

I just can't wait until this guy is gone. He's awful.

Actually, I dont think he looks as bad as the OP feels he does. While the BA isn't too good, hes making good contact on his outs. Hit a bullet tonight that the SS made a very good play on. In fact, might have been a hit if the force wasnt in play.

As far as defense. I think hes as good as Scott. I personally think Church is going to be a solid player. Like another stated. He's got like 10 games worth of ABs. I just hope they continue giving him playing time.
