There still seems to be a lot of criticism of Burleson

Here's something to consider. How does Burleson's development and production compare to first rounders Walker and Gorman? It kind of helps to put Burleson's current performance status into perspective.

Here’s something to consider. How does it compare to 13th round Albert Pujols? Perspective, as you make more Burleson garbage threads than Pujols threads at his peak…

I think Gorman has a good chance of passing Burleson in OPS.

How about BA, RBIs and K rate?

No criticism. Burleson is a good solid player.

<people push back reasonably on the half dozen Burleson HOF threads that are started each day, mostly by Shady>

Shady: goshdarn all this Burleson criticism, probably just need a few more HOF threads to drown it out!

... have you considered that if you didn't start threads about him all the time that people wouldn't criticize him? That you, in fact, are spawning much of the criticism yourself?

I agree, However, there are lots of negative vibs on the recent OP, "Burleson is a star" thread.

Batting average: OPS and OBP are more important. Gorman has a good chance of surpassing AB in both.
RBIs: In RBI per PA, Gorman is already better.
K-Rate: Doesn't matter. OPS and OBP matter.

Gorman career
1486 PA's
73 HR
.434 slg%/.740 OPS

Burly career
1459 PA's
46 HR
.420 slg%/.738 OPS

Good to see both are looking good the last three months.

Are you endorsing Gorman to take Burleson's place as the regular #3 hitter in the lineup?

I didn't start the recent "Burleson is a star" OP. Also, that's kind of my point with all the Burleson criticism. Why not focus more on some other players' lack of production compared to Burleson's production. By the way, I consider Burleson's offensive production as one of the few bright spots on this team.

LOL, no. I'm not making lineup endorsements.

I'm just saying NG has a good chance of surpassing AB this year in some essential offensive categories.

Gorman's K rate is still a huge problem for him. IMO

Hence why i said "mostly"... and you started probably at least 90% of the pro-Burly threads leading up to that one, so you are by far the single individual most responsible for the backlash.

Basically this is you:

Burly is a bat, and that's about it. He's not an elite bat, not an all star. Maybe a 2 WAR player. Maybe hits 20 HRs 70 RBIs. That's servicable but nothing special.

Problem is a good team like we had in the Pujols years had 6-7 bats on that level or higher. Now we have 2-3.
