It was a good trade.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 09:12 am You could see just by looking at his numbers, that Fedde had a career year in 2024. But the Cardinals lack any depth of judgment. They are always buying high.
The Cardinals traded a fine player for this turd.
Horrible trade by the Cardinals.
Which helps speak to our largely squandered 2024 off-season "reset".ecleme22 wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 09:18 amIt was a good trade.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 09:12 am You could see just by looking at his numbers, that Fedde had a career year in 2024. They prob should’ve dumped Fedde sooner. Hindsight…
Moe was ruminating hard on Nado. The play the whole time was Fedde for value. If at all possible, he should have been flipped then for fresher talent. Instead, was he viewed by mgmt as a poor man's version of Lance Lynn & kept solely for (1) price-point and (2) what if he pitches like this next year?

Tommy edman has a .677 ops, his defense isnt his gold glove level by the metrics this year, and his numbers have been dropping crazy after a hot start. Edmans value was at all time low when we traded him too due to forever long wrist injury.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 09:12 am You could see just by looking at his numbers, that Fedde had a career year in 2024. The trade was fine at the time the problem was we should have traded fedde in offseason. He still had value then. We gambled that if he repeatwd he could have even more value at trade deadline. We lost that gamble.

and even if Fedde was traded in the offseason, it's not like he was bringing back a haul of talent
Tommy Edman has been playing hurt since he came back from injury in May, and he's still a ten times better player then Fedde with a better future.Wattage wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 11:03 amTommy edman has a .677 ops, his defense isnt his gold glove level by the metrics this year, and his numbers have been dropping crazy after a hot start. We wouldnt be resigning edman now, hed have near no trade value at this years trade deadline(more than fedde sure cuz fedde imploded, but we could have gotten something for fedde in offseason) as his ws push obviously doesnt happen here, we wouldnt be a playoff team with him, and hed only have blocked us evaluating players like gorman saggese etc so wed have no purpose for him.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 11:56 amTommy Edman has been playing hurt since he came back from injury in May, and he's still a ten times better player then Fedde with a better future.Wattage wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 11:03 amTommy edman has a .677 ops, his defense isnt his gold glove level by the metrics this year, and his numbers have been dropping crazy after a hot start. It was a bad trade right from the start. It got worse when the Cardinals didn't see what the White Sox saw and decided to double down on a bad wager.
I'm not saying we should have kept Edman. The team's long term plans are above my pay grade. What I am saying is we should have gotten better value for Edman than Fedde.Wattage wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 12:08 pmWe wouldnt be resigning edman now, hed have near no trade value at this years trade deadline(more than fedde sure cuz fedde imploded, but we could have gotten something for fedde in offseason) as his ws push obviously doesnt happen here, we wouldnt be a playoff team with him, and hed only have blocked us evaluating players like gorman saggese etc so wed have no purpose for him.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 11:56 amTommy Edman has been playing hurt since he came back from injury in May, and he's still a ten times better player than Fedde with a better future.Wattage wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 11:03 amTommy edman has a .677 ops, his defense isnt his gold glove level by the metrics this year, and his numbers have been dropping crazy after a hot start.
