What's the harm in giving Mathews a taste of the MLB. He's 24 years old. I still don't care for his FB velo. But he had rgood comand of some other pitches in a recent game that I saw.

They need to carefully manage their 40-man roster this offseason to keep players from being taken via Rule 5. If that reasoning prevents Wetherholt from being brought up it would likely apply to Mathews too.

100% Mort but not sure Shady understands since he keeps on with the bring up.......

Mathews was expected to contribute this season. It's high time for that. Especially, with the starting pitching situation going into '26.

Cards have atleast 10 players who you can pick up anywhere at anytime if need be so having them on the 40-man now is just ignit.

Either wave Mikolas , trade him or DFA next week and bring up Matthews ? The Cards would only eat one more month on his contract.

Nonsense.....I think EVERYONE needs to be brought up!
Petition for a 50 man roster.

Genius. 54 walks in 70 innings, 1.6 whip in AAA. Of course the local idjit screams for him.

The promotion of top prospects is always a great topic for discussion.
And that is the major purpose for this forum.
Still....it always amuses me that those typing from their living rooms feel they KNOW what has to be done.
Especially with ZERO inside knowledge of the system.
I have an opinion. But it is an “uniformed” opinion!

Correct.
STL is not required to add either of them to the 40 man in November.
Both can wait.
Makes no sense to add them when STL will need some spots this off-season.

Of course but Mo's an idiot.
Mikolas has been one of the worst starters in MLB since 2023.
I'd like to see any one of the kids at AAA get both his and Pallantes starts.
Those two should be DFA'd, just like the Braves did w/E. Fedde.

If they've endured both the mouth and arm of Mikolas for this long, I can't see them dfa-ing him at this point.
Additionally, in MO's world, there is still time for Mikolas to finish strong & burnish his Cardinal HOF credentials...

I stop watching this chit until he’s officially gone. A man can only take so much.

I hear ya' Alex
Mikolas & Pallante aren't major league quality pitchers, they'd be DFA'd on almost any other team that the idiot Mo wasn't running.

Correct, rockandlouie, except Pallante still has an option, so he can be sent down to Memphis. Cut Mikolas, sure, long past due.
They can bring up Taylor, tho he's not a kid, and Wilkerson, def not a kid. Cards need to find starters for this year and next.
As for the 40-man roster, that shouldn't be any problem. Cards can release both minor leagues pitchers if need be. Might as well take a look at them.
Per Russell Westbrook's motto, "Why not?"
