I thought maybe my online schedule was broken, but I can’t remember the last time they were off on a Saturday.

There’s a Bucs preseason game, so there would be nowhere to park!

That is a lame and bogus excuse. The minor league park holds 10,000

The football stadium might have 40,000 for a preseason game

The parking lots for the regular season NFL games can accommodate 60,000 plus.

I assume the real truth is to separate the massive drinking, debauchery and tail gaiting that goes on at NFL games and keep them away from the MLB fans.

Just a guess.

It was a bad guess. The area around the stadium is chaos for a football game. Having lived there every available parking spot is taken for either game parking or tailgating which goes on through the game. The minor league park area is always full during the game. Typically there is no baseball game going on in the minor league field during football season. It would be chaos for the few thousand that attend the Rays game to get there and get around. It makes total sense to not play the baseball game there today.

Yes….we have been there a couple of times for the bowl game…….it’s challenging..

and that game doesn’t draw like the Bucs do.

Every team, pro and college draws well

30k for the high school championship game

Baseball is something to pass the time between football playoffs and football opening day…

One of several reasons I wish they'd contract or relocate the Florida teams.

Few MLB/NFL teams have their stadiums in close proximity. I can think of Cincy, Detroit, KC, and Seattle off the top of my head. For those cities, one sport will play in the day, the other at night. For example, the Lions played in Ford Field today, and the Tigers play next door at Comerica tonight. Seattle did that earlier in the season on a Thursday (M's during the day, Seahawks at night).

Is the reason they didn't do it here is fear of heat index??

Ok, I didn’t know about

1. The proximity of the football stadium
2. The football game tonight.
