keep him ou there, taking the beatings and saving the pens arms.
no reason to over work the pen, injuring one or 2 of the arms you found , because a guy is taking beat downs.
if they are going to start him, make him go 6-7 innings 120 pitchers or not

Oli is managing to keep his job. He’s trying to win every game, commendable, but he’s still not good!

In order to give the offense a chance to come back and possibly win the game. It did not happen, but it was close - the Cardinals rallied to make the score 7-6, until Oli brought in Fernandez who was awful once again.

Confucius say- it hard to come from behind, when you keep giving up runs?

This. Cards had a chance. Keep Mikolas out there and by the 6th inning the Cards might be Miles behind.
Better question might be "why keep running Miles out there?

This, past time to send him packing, somebody will pick him up just like Fedde, and the Cards will at least recover something.
"a player to be named later or cash considerations" is miles better than what he has left.

His contract guarantees Mikolas starts.
It does not guarantee innings.

Should've been DFA'd long ago.
He's been one of the worse starters in MLB since 2023:
2023 - Present
92 GS
5.07 ERA
1.31 WHiP
6.1 SO9
Thanks to another idiotic Mo extension he's STOLEN money the last 3 years and is one of the main reasons the team has struggled.

Wainwright was far worse.
In fact, his final season was among the worst in MLB history.
His contract played.
Mikolas will as well.
And it is just as foolish to put him on the mound as it was with Wainwright.

Nope, bad comp Mel
In his final season Waino was:
1 - 41 years old-----Mikolas is 36 years old
2 - In Waino's final three seasons (2021-2023: 85 GS/4.18 ERA that was his age 39-41 seasons and still almost a full run lower ERA than age 34-36 year old Mikolas)
3 - Waino earned that final season given he's a future Cardinals Hall of Famer, borderline Hall of Famer while Mikolas should've never gotten his first extension let alone a second only because Mo jumped the gun not once but twice giving them to him.

Look at who came in.
It’s not like Matt Bowman was out there getting his 90th appearance.

bull[shirt].
Wainwright was crucified in this forum for his performance (or lack thereof) each time he was destroyed on the mound. And, the fact he'd been inked to a $17MM contract rubbed salt into the 'every 5th day' wounds he'd far too often create.
Yes, victory #200 was a struggling gem, but a perfect case of where the ends did not justify the season-long means of getting there.

cardinals pay contracts over talent
and miles is going to keep throwing, so might as well use that arm up

Waino’s opportunity for 200th win was only possible because the rest of the season was sunk.
If the season was a great one, Waino would’ve been put in the bullpen or put on the IL.
