Might have the night off but some are speculating that with Donovan hitting the IL Wetherholt could get a callup.

Probably a night off. Johnny bow ties has basically said he's not coming up this season.

Yep, and we know that MO never admits he was wrong or backs down. We had at least one thread on this. Some agreeing there was no reason to bring him up this season, even though it will not start his clock. Others, like me, think the cup of coffee would allow him to see real major league pitching that would find his weaknesses. This would give him things to work on to prep for ST. I doubt we see JJ until ST though, so it really doesn't matter.

This team doesn't think about prep work and getting ahead on fixing things. It prefers the fly by the seat of your pants and hope method. JJ won't need to concern himself with making adjustments to his current approach. They will screw him up with launch angle and an unbalanced stance. Then wonder why he stopped hitting.

Maybe.. but there is a new sheriff in town and he has hired a new development staff. Let's hope for a new manager while we are at it. We shall see. Just let the kid be a pure hitter and not worry about dingers. If a few leave the yard, then great, but it should not be the focus.... again, we shall see. JJ didn't do squat in ST this year after the first few days. Now he is healthy and has conquered AAA pitching. Let's see what he can do in the bigs next season. I am hoping for OPS well above .800 with lots of gappers along with at least average D at 2B or 3rd. Hope he can do that..... Hope he doesn't turn into a pumpkin. We have seen enough of that lately. Lots of guys hit AAA and cannot hit in the bigs. This kid looks like he is for real, but who knows...

if Cards bring him up now, the FA clock starts, but could wait until Sept 1st when it doesn't.

agree - health of the organization is the priority; stay the course. call it what you want, we are in a rebuild. we aren't going to the playoffs this year and attendance is not going up. continue to evaluate the guys we have, except for Hamp, King, Fernandez. (we know what they are)

Last season, both King and Fernandez were really good, this year not as good. So, because this year hasn’t gone as well for them we now know last year was a fluke and that now they are no good? Ok……

Church ops over 900 but at least will know what mlb pitching looks like and what he needs to work on when back in AAA. Part of development.

This team isn't going anywhere this year, why start his FA clock when in a week and half you won't have too?

In no way, shape or form does the 25 year old, 11th round selection Church equate to JJW, the #1 prospect in the system!

For the record I'm not a Church "guy", to me he's JAG only here due to VSII's injury.

The point in bringing JJW up now, like they did Winn, is to let him get a taste of MLB and prep him for 2026 by giving him a head start.
