Top Candidates as of today: Exclude pitchers, because well, they are pitchers!!

1. Wetherholt
2. Winn
3. Burleson
4a. Nolan Gorman aka the UNiCorn **
4b. Jordan Walker **
5. Leonardo Bernal
6. Church
7. Haven't yet acquired

** I have them in the same category.
However, I think one or both might be gone in 2026.
Most likely Gorman

Wetherholt, Winn, and Walker all have potential for All Star consideration. In the minors, Joshua Baez is starting to come on strong.

Maybe not a franchise player, but Herrera might develop an All-Star caliber bat.

It's Wetherholt and maybe Winn (if his bat comes a long a little more)... Gorman and Walker and maybe Bernal have very outside shots but that's it.

Rainiel Rodriguez is one more possibility I just remembered... but at least 2 years off and probably 3.

Possible candidates: Wetherholt, Bernal, Baez, Ortiz, and Rodriguez for hitters. Doyle, Mathews and Henderson for pitchers. Really hope Rodriguez pans out, he has some serious upside, and only 18 years old at Palm Beach.

The only potential "franchise" player (IMO) is of course JJW.

No one on the current roster even comes close to being a franchise player.

I'll take that bet on Winn/Walker who will likely never even sniff an all-star selection.

Both Winn and Walker are only 23. Birthdays earlier this year. Wetherholt turns 23 next month.

Could be an everyday player, doesn't have "franchise player" potential (IMO).

Cardinals are loaded w/quality catching prospects.

Bloom can certainly package one w/Donny or Noot or Burleson and hopefully land a starting pitcher!

There at least six-seven current NL shortstops he's going to have to beat out w/more to come in the future.

But I hope you're right and win this "fake" bet.

Someone coming up with Rodriguez who may not make it at all, but if he does- Padilla is electric. I hope he can hit enough to make it. He's years away.
