Maybe those Cardinal fans wanting the Cardinals to sign Kyle Tucker to big $$$ in free agency should pump the brakes a bit.
Tucker has been in slumping for a while now and in today's 1st game of a doubleheader he went 0-4
Counsell in postgame press conference said 'Kyle is frustrated and the fans are too. We have to take a couple steps backwards to go forward.
He won't play the 2nd game today . We(the coaches ) haven't figured it out and he hasn't able to figure it out either.
Interesting that the Cub fans are on his case .. Doesn't surprise me .. a classic case of 'What have you done for me lately ?

I think it’s the totality of circumstances more than just him slumping. They were in first now they’re pretty much out of the division race and battling for a wild card.

He has stunk it up against the Cardinals. I wasn't impressed at all by what I saw in those games.
Some team is going to overpay him, though. And I have to say I won't be too sad it won't be the Cardinals.

He didn't run out a groundout and got booed at Wrigley.
Watching the play I can see how he thought it probably was going to be foul, but still a bad look when you're slumping.
I would still take him over anyone in our lineup.

Kyle Tucker is a top ten player in baseball. He’s not hitting now but was a dominant force in the first half. Nobody hits for six months straight. Everyone goes through slumps. I would still be happy if the Cardinals would sign him in the offseason but he can’t carry a team by himself. Adding a Tucker should only be a first step in changes for the Cardinals.

Your comment of Tucker thought it was probably going foul reminded me of my first year in baseball 10 years old..a teammate bounced one down the 3rd. Base line… he didn’t run either.
Fair ball and thrown out.
Manager yelled ‘why didn’t you run to 1st?
Kid replied. ‘I thought it was going foul .
Manager yelled, ‘. DON’T THINK just run !
After game manager told all of us .. hope you all learned something.. Don’t ever say I thought….
I know nobody on our team ever said that again. We learned.
Good lesson . Good youth coach !

NEVER give a superstar rest. lol. He’s getting a break before the playoffs. Nothing more. I wish the Cardinals had a player half that good.

You may be right regarding slump. We will see soon how badly Cubs wish to retain him . How high a deal they offer him .

It’s why imo no mid market team should ever pay 400 million or more on a contract
Going to ruin the game if it keeps escalating

It’s already ruining the game. The sport needs a cap and an extremely aggressive floor. It will never get either.

Don't think, just run, is how meatheads are created. How about always think and know that no matter where you hit the ball, you should run.
