Cardinals attendance lowest in past 30 years

The Cardinals will finish the year with around 2.35M fans (28,800/game). This will be the lowest attendance (minus the two covid year) since the strike of 1995. If you take out the strike year this is our lowest attendance per game in 40 years.

During the stretch we have the following finishes:

1st - 12 times
2nd - 8 times
3rd - 5 times
4th - 4 times
5th - 1 time

While MLB has its attendance challenges, this will be the first time in almost 50 years that the Cardinals attendance per game is below the league average (29,200) as we now sit 19th in the league (two spots above Cleveland) 8O

I believe they are watching soccer or sitting in their air-conditioned house because food prices and inflation is eating them up financially.

Who wants to drop a load of cash to watch guys who cant make routine infield throws? Or strike out with risp? Or run the bases like little leaguers?

And to top it off, support an owner and front office that gaslights the fans. Arrogance, stubbornness, and raising prices while cutting payroll doesn't entice fans.

Maybe they’re choosing to watch soccer because of the very things mentioned by WLTFE?

The fans have a voice and are speaking.

Yankees in town, Sunday afternoon game: looked like ~15,000 in the stands. Sad state of affairs. :(

Unless they "cook the books," I question whether tickets sold in 2025 will reach 2 million. We should wait and see.

Hahaha! 28.8k my sweet patootie! I'm shocked they've actually sold that many to be honest.

The "actual" attendance numbers hover around 10k recently on any given night. F 'em. They deserve every bit of humility they're breathin in right now.

Bad FO, horrible GM, worse manager, garbage cry-baby players who've clearly been told winning is no longer the most important thing.

Went to the game on Friday. Have been a die hard fan my entire life. I have never been so bored at a MLB game in my life. This team is infuriatingly (not sure if that's a word) bad! No stars to watch. Who wants to spend $200-$300 to take your family to a game for that? Prices are out of control and the atmosphere SUCKED! Worst feeling I've had as a fan in my lifetime. Minor league games are more entertaining than that, honestly!!

Also, the fact that over half the crowd were Yankees fans was even more disgusting! Ownership should be EMBARRASSED!!!!

I think they are 26th in largest contract ever handed out. All those years of great attendance, but they wouldn't try to get a Harper or get Scherzer. Trying to get by in a bad division. The fans wised up and were sick of the arrogance of Dewitt and Mo. They killed the golden goose and I saw it coming years ago. You had to go aways to screw something up this good but they did.

Valid points , but I would also add the exceedingly hot and wet weather as factors. I assume the AC is what you. Not to mention the Cardinals do not have super stars and the team's record speaks for itself.

This is why you can't simply slash payroll to the bare bones

St. Louis WILL NOT support a loser Cardinals team (re: 1970's).

BDWJr is going to make a massive mistake if he goes through w/his plans to slash payroll even further in 2026.

Hello 1.5M attendance

Hello your franchise value plummeting by HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of DOLLARS!

NOT SMART BILL, NOT SMART AT ALL

This season was an obvious "test the waters" for ownership to see if they could spend zero money, not put out a fun product and see if the baseball fans still show up. They probably have been told their entire lives that Cardinals fans will always show up no matter what or there is nothing else to do in STL than watch baseball during the summer.

Well they are being proven wrong.
