Never met them....lived in California in the 60s and saw a great Gibson/Marichal duel...was at the infamous Mad Hungarian/ Bill Madlock game where there were 3 people in the batters box and Al buzzed them...saw Musial in his twilight...good memories but sad when we see where this team is today.

Thank you. It was why I posted. The great tradition seems to be gone.

I’m 71. Went to a couple of games when I was little in the very late ‘50’s or early ‘60’s but didn’t know or care about baseball then. I probably saw Stan play then, but it didn’t register. All I cared about at the ballpark then was a hot dog and some candy cotton.
Really got into baseball at age 9 in 1963. Bitter disappointment when the gawlldam Dodgers quashed our September run. Still despise the Dodgers — far more than the Cubs.
Went to several games in 1964 as a 10 year old, and by then was a passionate Cardinal fan. By then, Stan had retired. But I saw Gibson & Brock, plus the epic 1964 September pennant chase.
Met Stan at an autograph signing at Central Hardware at I-270 & Halls Ferry Road in North County. Probably in either 1965 or 66. Stan was real nice, but I was still 11 or 12 and didn’t have much to say except “Thanks Mr. Musial”.
My only milestone witnessing was Lou Brock’s 3000th hit. Even had box seats about 8 rows up for that one. Got lucky — my neighbor’s dad ran a travel agency and his business box seats went begging that night.
Met Lou on a business trip in 1984 in Chicago. He got on the same elevator with me, at the American Management Association facility near O’Hare. I told him that I was one of the teenagers who sat in the LF bleachers in the early 70’s when he would bounce batting practice balls off the Astroturf up at us. He said he remembered and laughed about that.
Never met Gibson.
The two Cardinals I wish I could have met as an adult would have been Jack Buck and Bob Uecker. Maybe Tim McCarver, too.

All three. From 1954 through 1959, Stan homered in every game (about10) that I attended with my Dad.
My Dad took me to my first MLB game in 1953 near season end to see Satchel Paige pitch for the Browns against the Tigers.

I saw Brock play late in his career. I also met Lou. He was the nicest player that I have met.

I saw Brock and Gibson regularly.
Brock was a better player IMO than WAR says. He was a clutch hitter who shined in the WS and of course he was electric on the basepaths.
Gibson was one of the top 15-20 pitchers of all time, took the ball every 4th day, not 5th day like today, and was a fierce competitor. I believe at the time of his retirement he was only the second or third pitcher to record 3,000 strikeouts.
I met Lou Brock probably 4 or 5 times. He was a real gentleman and was always very pleasant when we spoke.

I saw Stan The Man play at Busch Stadium in 1962 and 1963 and first saw Gibson and Brock at brand-new Busch Memorial Stadium in 1966. I met Brock in 1979, his last year as a player, the day after he’d taken over the league lead in hitting (.382), and met with him again in 1980. I met Gibson in 1981 while he was coaching the Mets for Joe Torre. I have yet to see their like.

I saw Stan the Man play just once, in his last season - 1963. He hit a walk off, PH single in the 10th inning vs the Giants. I saw Brock and Gibson play many times. I never met any of them.

Red -
Saw all of them play, and met 2 of them.
I had breakfast with Stan Musial one morning at Schneithorst’s restaurant. We represented a company called Crown Foods, and I contacted Dick Musial (Stan’s son) to see if he had interest. He said that he was down at the Lake of the Ozarks, but could we meet his dad for breakfast and get the information to him. It was a pleasure to do that. What a nice person and gentleman Stan was.
I helped Lou Brock sell a multiple location dry cleaners that he owned with a partner. The first meeting we had with the sellers and eventual buyers, one of the buyers said “Lou, we’d like to make an offer to buy your dry cleaners, and hope the offer we’re about to make doesn’t come out of left field - ha ha ha”.
Never met Bob Gibson.

I was at Lou's 3000th hit game, as a 10 year old...
I believe it was against Dennis Lamp
I lived in Illinois at the time and we would travel 4 hours a few times a year for a weekend series.

I saw all of them including Red, Wally Moon, Boyer. Stan hit a foul ball that landed in my seat at old Crosly(sp) Field in Cincy, and I froze and some kid right behind me got it. I was only about 9 years old.
