From the Athletic:

Nolan Arenado has been sidelined since Aug. 1 with a right shoulder strain. He has started a strength and conditioning program at the Cardinals’ spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla., but has not resumed baseball activity. He is expected to meet with the team on Monday, when the Cardinals begin a three-game road series against the Miami Marlins.

I can see both NADO and Gray waiving their NTC's this winter, at least NADO expanding his list of teams he'd accept a deal to.

if he's taking this long to heal, he had to have been hurting for awhile. prolly explains some things

Yes, there is a saying in pro sports ... You play hurt .. but you don't play injured. There is a distinction If you have a bone bruise and hurting or a knee sprain type thing, you may have a few days off but you are back in there playing despite some limitations and pain . However, if you have a torn knee ligament , now you are 'hurt' and that needs to be repaired so you are not playing .

Or, what's the purpose of coming back? He's been horrible all year. He sucked last year. He's getting worse because he's old.

IF healthy, maybe re-establish some trade value

We all knew that the back of the contract was terrible. Everyone, but Mo.

Gray would absolutely be wanted by many teams, especially if BDWJr eats some salary.

NADO, yea you're probably right that's a long shot but the stros' did bite last offseason so....who knows?

I'd love to know his thoughts now on declining that trade. But we may never know.
