Will Gray Keep it up Tonight?

In his two August starts against the Cubs and Dodgers he threw 14IP, 2ER, 15K, 2BB. Granted the temps were 69 and 72. Now we have a hot August night will he keep that going, or revert to his July malaise? I'd like a Card.blowout, but since that likely isn't happening a Gray-Fried duel will do.

Gray grew up near Nashville area playing sports in hot weather. Went to college there too. Did great in hot weather climate.

My guess is that Gray keeps it up. He’s been great outside of July, which is his biggest struggle month.

May: 3.77/1.05
June: 3.53/0.98
July: 6.75/1.50
August: 4.50/1.11
Sept: 2.89/0.97
2025 ERA/WHIP

May: 3.71/1.24

Futuregm pointed out his history of awful Julys. Age and heat don't mix well. Cooler temps did perk Gray up in this month.

Duly noted. A fast-paced pitchers duel would be fun to watch.

Fried has been terrible lately. He has a 6.00 ERA over his last 7 starts.
But he’s a LHP so maybe you’re right.

Yea
It's not the misconception of Gray being able to handle the heat, it's his inability to get a good grip on his pitches when it's super hot.
Everyone's body reacts differently to the climate, in Gray's case he just can't get the right grip when it's super hot.

You make a good point about the grip in hot weather. But if you look at Gray's Julys he seems more affected by heat than others.

Not sure if it's his hand being too wet from sweat or too dry from the humidity.
Gray has a very regimented game day routine.
If somethings off it does seem to affect him.
