Wetherholt

The Cards delayed bringing by him up for several reasons:
1. This team is going no place.
2. They didn’t want to start his play clock
3. If he is a bust they have zero marketing plan to gain fan interest in 2026
If he is JD Drew or Matt Carpenter he will be just so so on the fan meter.
If he nets the Cards another Wainwright through trade then he deserves a Red Coat.
If he is Keith Hernandez then he will be interesting.
I wish him well!

I’m afraid people are putting too high of expectations on him. Looking at his stats, has he really been that much better than, say, Walker was in the minors before being brought up and then messed with? I believe he will be a very good player, but as you listed, will he be as good as any of those guys? The Cardinals certainly need him to be.
My hope, is that he’s the Cardinal version of Gregg Jeffries, but with a better glove and can stay healthy!
lol, talk about high expectations!

I know fans want their dopamine rush during a slow period of baseball, but there really is no reason to bring him up now.
Better off leaving him in the minors and finishing the season on a high note before 6 months of offseason. Also, I think Bloom wants to get longer looks from the guys currently on the MLB roster. Can't do that if JJ is taking up a position...

I don’t know with the awful players like Gorman on the team a drew or carpenter would look like mantle on this team. But fans are putting too high of expectations on him with some saying ridiculous things like he should have went straight from college or A ball to the majors the first time he slumps or god forbid he gets off to a slow start the turn on him will be rabid

If JJ is another Carpenter, the Cards are beyond fortunate. Let’s hope he’s that good.

I said he should have been on the team from the start of the season.
I had no issue with him having any growing pains. He's as old as some of these pathetic players that are on the team and had a very significant and successful college career vs others that were/are on the team all year.
I believe at least 6 others from his draft, played MLB this year

Yeah, and nobody knows what the Cards current record would be with JJW up all year. My guess is he would have been the Cards best player.

Agree 100%
I wanted him up ASAP given his college resume and age, he's not some 18 year old kid!
And I agree, I bet he would've added wins to the team had he been here given he's an elite talent.

If he's Matt Carpenter or JD Drew, which you are only saying because you watched one Bernie Miklasz video, then he'll have a great career and he'll have been a great pick.

You are correct. No advantage to bring him up. It’s fan heartship reference cup of coffee. Let him start fresh in ST.

Well, I am certainly in the bring JJ up camp, but he did nothing in ST after the first few days. There is no guarantee he would have been great this year. The main thing is that bringing him up for a cup of coffee would allow him to see some REAL MLB pitching, not ST. That would undoubtedly help him prepare for next year in the off season. They would quickly find the holes in his swing and he would have things to work on for ST. Oh well.... not gonna happen under MO.
