“ Today marks 45 days remaining in the MLB season.

Therefore, any player called up for the first time cannot exceed 45 days of MLB service.

Thus they can retain rookie eligibility for 2026 so long as they do not exceed 130 AB or 50 IP.”

Yes, give the kid a cup of coffee. Just to see big league pitching and not in ST when they are not sharp.

they have bigger fish to fry...if you really think about it....there's a big CLUSTER FRICK with the 40man coming up. I've been talking about in the Minor League thread.

Wetherholt up now would only serve to help you (greedy fans)...not the team, not 40 man.....add him in March.

Note ~ when I say "greedy fans", I'm not trying to insult.

-----------

Another note...use this time for Church...who HAS to be protected, or he will be lost come Dec.

I think it also helps the team as the taste of MLB can help prepare a player to be better off next year. IMO They get an idea of what MLB life is like, adjusted to it before their real rookie year, and learn if they need to work on anything specific over the offseason instead of on the fly in their rookie year.

Oli has enough trouble “finding” playing time for everyone on the team now. Can you imagine the angst on here if JJW is brought up and Arenado returns from the IL? There’s no way Oli sits Arenado…., or Donovan, or Nootbaar, or Burleson,or Winn, or Contreras, or Herrera unless they are injured. Then there’s the catching position reserved for Pages, and Pozo. So, that leaves “1” spot to fit in JJW, Walker, Scott, Gorman, and Saggese. I wouldn’t want to be in charge of that nightmare!
That’s why I felt a couple of those players should have been moved at the trade deadline! Mo and Oli are still trying to figure out what they have, but continue to play guys that are known instead of the young guys. Arenado being out has allowed Gorman and Saggese to play more. I think both have shown improvement with semi-regular playing time. When Arenado gets back, well, I don’t see either playing much.

Exactly

Ala M. Winn when he was called up give JJ the chance to meet his teammates, find a place to live and learn the city, experience big league travel and the media, learn how things work on road trips, ect.......

When you have a KNOWN 2026 starter, you absolutely should do this so they get a head start on next season and a familiarity w/what to expect.

Hopefully C. Bloom steps in and let's BDWJr know he wants to see JJ this season, then Bill tells Mo to p i z z off.

that's the FO's fault, too...we only cleared room for Relievers at the deadline. We didn't trade any other roster spot.

I agree. Mo has no foresight at all. There’s no way we can carry all those guys on the roster next season. The DeWitts are going to have to bite the bullet and eat money to trade Arenado, and maybe Contreras if he’ll wave his NTC. We can replace the production of both players with much cheaper options, who have more upside.

You’ll have to replace King, because he’s a LHP. JoJo can’t be the only one, and he might be traded.
I’m not quite ready to give up on Fernandez. He was pretty good as a rookie. It could be he’s just experiencing a sophomore slump.

We can’t afford to lose one of those studs on the 40-man that can’t unseat anyone on the 26-man 4th place team roster.

A lousy LHRP is an easy replacement

Fernandez types are a dime-a-dozen, cut the cord and move on
