I hope there are still some teams out there who THINK he might be better than he actually seems to be.
4th year in a row people have been saying that about him. Never played more than 117 games in a season and is the poster boy for components not adding up to the sum of their parts. An Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:37 am If he has a fully healthy and productive year, someone will see him as a Brandon Nimmo type of player
I think he’s more suited for the Japanese league.3dender wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:49 am4th year in a row people have been saying that about him. On top of that he seems to have changed his approach this year to get more aggressive, which has made him even worse (increase K-rate, lower BB and OBP). So at this point he's got mental stuff to work through in addition to making sure none of his many, many ouchies are interfering with his swing.
They need to cut bait and hope some team still sees it like you just said it. Rarely has there been a more obvious change-of-scenery guy.
I think he's a fine OBP-heavy 125 OPS guy with flashes of power (50 XBH and 15-20 HR)... best case scenario. That is a nice player to have and a good 2nd-best corner OFer on a winning team. If he's trying to be more than that though he will end up being worse. And if teams depend on him to be more than that then they will probably not have good OF production.rightthinker4 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:57 amI think he’s more suited for the Japanese league.3dender wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:49 am4th year in a row people have been saying that about him. I’m starting to wonder if Nootbaar will ever have a fully healthy and productive year.An Old Friend wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:37 am If he has a fully healthy and productive year, someone will see him as a Brandon Nimmo type of player

His approach hasn’t necessarily changed, but his biggest change has been launch angle.3dender wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025 07:49 am4th year in a row people have been saying that about him.
