people here moan and groan 24/7 about a cards team that clearly doesnt have a ton of talent at this time...imagine how fans of teams spending 3-4 times what the cards are saying and feel like about their teams

They sure can't be saying out FO needs to spend more . Most likely they say , we need a better manager to get more out of our high priced stars . LOL

This organization, it's historic place in the game and it's resources shouldn't have to bow to any franchise.

Yankee fans are going nuts wanting Boone fired and Cashman. Two of their deadline pickups are hurt and one, Jack Bird, was demoted to minors. Williams has been a disaster and fans are calling for him to be DFA. Stanton has to play RF and he moves like in slow motion out there.

Agree. So I’m tickled that MO’s replacement is already in place. That a new team of farm management has taken charge. Greater investment is planned on the farm with training facilities and coaching. A renewed focus on International acquisitions. The Cards aren’t complacent.
I’m betting we are improved next year and the following year. Here’s hoping fan apologetics diminish very soon.

It’s not the lack of talent “at this time”, it’s the direction and course this organization has taken. Certainly a lack of spending in certain ears has had a negative impact, i.e. the farm clubs and development. Over the last two years the willingness ( lack of) to spend on players has hurt. Of course the way Mo has managed the payroll has not been good.

I'm exited to have a competent PBO being brought in. At least we hope he's competent. There's nothing left to say about the previous regime. The systems of player aquisitions have all rotted and or dried up except the draft. The systems to develope those drafted players have failed because they have been neglected. According to the organization steps have been taken to fix and actually improve the player developement system. I look forward to the day we can once again be proud of the Cardinals and their great tradition. May it start with the young core we are trying to put in place now.

Nobody said anything about New York and LA. But the Cardinals should never have to look up at the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres. The fact that these teams are trending up where the Cardinals are not is a conscious choice by Bill DeWitt and John Mozeliak.

conscious choice?in what way?...milwaukee and cinncy have low payrolls and particularly milwaukee have made good decisions with limited resources but there is no conscious choice by dewitt or Mo...come on
