Did Gorman play 1B?

Missed the game tonight. Looked at the box score and it showed Gorman 3B, 1B. Did he get switched over to 1st mid game? If so, how did he look there? Just curious.

Doesn’t Willy have another year. Then, how does a Gorman Donovan Winn JJ infield look.Rosie's Rule wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 00:55 am He has been getting work at 1st base before games - has been breaking in a new 1st base glove - by design.

That it is. From the offensive side. What do you think the defense in this set would be. Then ask, if a Gorman JJ Winn ?? Third, would be better.noted wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 06:11 amIt looks too left handedsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 04:43 amDoesn’t Willy have another year. Fine, as long as Gorman is just looking at the other three from a different organization's dugout.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 04:43 amDoesn’t Willy have another year. About 74% of plate appearances are against right handed pitching.noted wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 06:11 amIt looks too left handedsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 04:43 amDoesn’t Willy have another year. If Crooks III is catching, Winn and Walker could be the only RH bats in the lineup. We would see the ghosts of Tony Fossas and Randy Choate every night. An Old Friend wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 08:41 amAbout 74% of plate appearances are against right handed pitching.noted wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 06:11 amIt looks too left handedsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 04:43 amDoesn’t Willy have another year. My friend, THIS is the hallmark of the Mozo the Clown administration. And it has been the hallmark for at least 12-13 years. Think about all the square pegs Mo has tried to put into round holes since 2012:ilcubuffs wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 11:48 am The never ending search to find a defensive position to "hide" Gorman. If they would put as much effort into helping Pallante change from batting practice pitching to MLB pitching they may find some better performance.
All for a player who cannot stay on the field and in some fantasy will be the Hank Aaron of 2B. Waste of resources and time.
Did he play there in the game last night?Rosie's Rule wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 00:55 am He has been getting work at 1st base before games - has been breaking in a new 1st base glove - by design.
No, Wilson played there and had an error that they unbelievably gave to Jordan Walker.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 13:13 pmDid he play there in the game last night?Rosie's Rule wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 00:55 am He has been getting work at 1st base before games - has been breaking in a new 1st base glove - by design.
Yes, Gorman was moved from 3B to 1B late in the game last night.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 13:13 pmDid he play there in the game last night?Rosie's Rule wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 00:55 am He has been getting work at 1st base before games - has been breaking in a new 1st base glove - by design.
They gave up on Herrera as a C and I can see Crooks being included in a trade for SP. Bernal is who I expect to be the C of the future.Whatashame wrote: ↑10 Aug 2025 12:05 pm I have been on this bandwagon for a while now. IF Gorman has a spot on this team, it’s as a 1B/DH. Gorman isn’t a good 2B and his instincts at 3B seem to have fallen off.
We are now and have been LH heavy for some time now. Our need for at least one and probably 2 RH bats is a necessity. Hopefully, Walker continues to improve as a RH hitting right fielder. We need another RH bat in that outfield.
When you look at the Cardinals I see a team that needs more athleticism and a need for RH bats. 2026 lineup
C Crooks/Herrera
1B Contreras/Gorman
2B Wetherholt
SS Winn
3B Donovan
LF Burleson
CF Scott/Church
RF Walker
We have one DH spot and possibly 3-4 guys who are probably DHs (Gorman, Burleson, Herrera, Contreras). It’s because of this that I could see trades involving Burleson, Gorman, and Donovan over the winter. To break the LH hitting logjam and to improve the athleticism of the Cardinals. A RH hitting 3B like Arenado used to be, is a solution. A RH hitting outfielder to play LF/CF is a solution.
When Bloom takes over and starts the shakeup, I fully expect RH hitting additions in these areas which makes guys like Burleson, Donovan and Gorman vulnerable.
