September call-ups

My wish list (not what they'll do):
The new rules hold that you can only bring up 2 to have 28 total, but this isn't an ordinary year where they'd be take up vets' PT or where they are trying to get in the playoffs, so send a few down or DFA them, and give more than two players a chance (those who we think need to be here in 2026).
And let them play!
1. Wetherholt up - only roster add without another move
2. Crooks up / Pages down (or DFA): they need to quit pretending that Pedro is a major league baseball player, move on to the future, which will be some combination of Crooks and Bernal, barring a trade of one of them. Pedro needs to work on a lot of things (not being a statue behind the plate and hitting).
3. Church or Josh Baez up / DFA Hampson (.446 OPS - not a typo). They can't go on thinking Scott can hit. He's a 4/5th OF.
4. Mathews up / DFA Roddery Muñoz: Please end the Muñoz experiment. Mathews needs to see what MLB is about before Spring Training. Have him take some of Miko's starts, and yes, let Miko be the long reliever.

They will have to keep some 40 man slots open for players who they need to protect from the Rule 5 draft. I don't believe any of the players you named are on the 40 man roster. So I doubt any of them will come up in Sept UNLESS they are among those who will need to be Rule 5 protected this year

These moves make sense. John Mozeliak doesn't deal in sensible moves. Pages will not be DFA. And if Arenado comes back, Wetherholt may not see St Louis this season. (bleep) oli has already said Arenado plays if he's available.

This. They are not going to do anything other than roll with what they have until the Bloom conference announcing full control. Afterwards, we will have to see how the off season plays out. With the lockout looming I think teams are going to be very frugal and conservative on what they ahve and what they let go. The new guys will just have to wait until ST to get a look see.

Ditto
At the very least we need to see:
JJW
Better also see:
Crooks
Mathews

All 4 are solid possibilities.
Can’t comment on Church vs Baez. And yes Hampson can obviously be DFA.
My only question with Mathews is if they want to limit his innings?? If so they might prefer to give him a long look in ST and go from there?
And yes.....LOL.....Munoz may be at the end of the line. At least he hasn’t beaned anybody recently!
He and Roycroft can enter the Federal Witness Protection Program.
The question with Wetherholt probably won’t be if he is ready.....but are they still trying to figure out what to do with Gorman???
Catcher? I’m ok with whatever they do? Crooks/Bernal look like the future so both Pages and Pozo could be on borrowed time.

Easy DFA's from the 40 man:
-Hampson
-SInai
-Roycroft
-King
-Munoz
-Robberse
-Pages (but won't happen until seasons end)

I just dont see the point in bringing up JJW this year. Would have been different if they were able to move a few more bodies at the deadline. Im really anxious to see him , but how does he get enough PT?

Re:
M. Winn
Bringing him up (after 8/15 so he retains his 2026 rookie status) RF08NY allows him to get his feet wet, get to know his new teammates, the city of ST. Louis, find a place to live, get use to big league travel and get a taste of major league pitching.
Then he comes to STing 26' settled and knowing what to expect, no surprises.
And PT won't be an issue.
He plays FT at 2B (Donny moves to LF, Hererra to DH), SS when Winn needs a day off.
You don't do this will all prospects, just the "can't miss" one's like Winn in 2023 and JJW now.

Agree.
Bernie recently did a podcast and mocked "the 40-man roster issue" as a red herring. I was glad, as every time I see it raised, there are numerous players that aren't part of the future plan on that roster. It's another "the sun was in my eyes."

It's a friggin joke when they use that "40 man" bullshildt excuse.
I'd bet the majority of the players I listed will be long gone once C. Bloom takes over.

Playing time shouldn’t be an issue for Wetherholt because Arenado and Winn are dealing with injuries. They need time off.

And why would we want to give players 1) without any future, 2) with injuries, or 3) "we just know pretty much what they are" -- playing time over a player they should want to have MLB exposure if counted on next year.

If Bloom decides to pull him up in September he takes Oli aside and tells him the kid plays. If not see him in '26.

I’d love to see Matthews, Wetherholt and crooks or Bernal.
DFA pages, Siani and Hampson.

You can send other guys down but it wont cause there to be more than 9 players starting a game so either those guys wont really play or they will be benching players like donovan burleson winn which isnt happenning.
These isnt gonna magically be a ton of playing time for these guys.
