I’m hating the Brewers more nowadays. They’ve stolen our mojo.

No way!
Watching Craig Counsel and his dumb face go to a division rival for more money showing how greedy he is when he had great teams in Milwaukee and a history there. Then seeing the Brewers continue to be the better team is great! I hope they win 10 WS before he retires and never wins one.

I hope the Cards win every series they play against the Cubs. Hatred, at least to me, is way too strong.

Sure, I enjoy that. But I don’t care about mediocre teams, which is what the Cubs have had for the last 6+ years. The Brewers winning while really not being that good is more annoying to me. The Brewers won the division last year led by a starter like Tobias Myers who was 2 years removed from a 1-15 7.82 ERA season in AAA and had an ERA near 5 the year before in AAA. And now he’s back in AAA. Then this year Chad Patrick was their new Tobias Myers this year. But he’s now in AAA, too.
And they have the best record in baseball while having a [shirt]ty offense. They have 1 player with an .800+ OPS and that is Isaac Collins, who’s a 28 year old rookie. They get lucky from a guy like Andrew Vaughn who they only acquired because their [shirt]ty pitcher Civale requested a trade after being moved from the rotation to the bullpen.
Those are more annoying to me than Counsell. And again it’s stuff that we USED to do that now we can’t.

Since we started playing the Cubs in June, we have gone 16-22; we were 42-36 prior to that series. And went to 8 games over with wins in the first two games. 8 under since those two games.

The Brewers offered Counsell $5.5 M to stay with the Brewers. Being a 'free agent ' , he felt he could do better elsewhere. Most thought he would land with the Mets and former POBO Stearns . In the 11th hour , Cubs called Counsell and offered him $8 M per year .. 5 years -$40 I heard the Cubs were more attractive as Chicago is just an hour+ drive to Counsell's home in Whitefish Bay, Wis (suburb of Milw) Cubs agreed to allow him to drive home after some homestands etc . and that was quite the perk for him to be with his family now and then . Won't hold that against him plus his mega deal with Cubs helps all managers get somewhat of a boost in pay (not to his level but hopefully overall ).

Maybe I have a hard time “hating” the Cubs, because I have a relative who works for them.

You're allowed to go "no contact" with relatives.
When my daughter was a little kid I taught her to say "1908" whenever she saw a person in a Cubs hat. Can't do that anymore, sadly.
The only positive thing I'll say about the Cubs: the day my son was born the Cardinals played in Chicago and I wanted a game-used ball from that day's game. I called them and they hooked me up with an authenticated ball and only asked that I pay for shipping. Can't beat that.

Hard to have “no contact” when he comes to St. Louis for various family functions.

My dad & his brother (my uncle J) grew up in small southern IL town, both diehard Cardinals fans. When uncle J became an adult, he moved up to Chicago area for a job, raised a family of 3 kids, who became Cub fans. All our lives, my cousins and I razzed each other about our rivalry. (good naturedly). Last July, I hosted them all for a family event and attended the Cubs/Cards at Busch. Uncle J, my brother & I all decked in Cards gear, my cousins wore Cubs stuff. I'll be at Wrigley with for our last series at end of the season.

You make him leave the hat outside before he comes in your house, though, right?

I LOATHE both
(And you're spot on, the Brewers have taken the Cardinal Way and are running the playbook perfectly---including our Devil Magic)
