And simply DFAs him and another team signs him. How much of the 27 M in '26 and 15 M in '27 would the Cardinals be responsible for? Keeping in mind the Rockies will be paying 5 M per season.

If no team picked him up, the Cardinals are on the hook for the whole thing. If he is picked up, the team picking up the player pays only the league minimum, the Cardinals would be on the hook for the remainder of the contract.

What part of “fully guaranteed contract” do you not understand?
If the DFA’d player is claimed on waivers or traded, the acquiring team typically pays the player the major league minimum or the remainder of the contract, whichever is less. The original team is responsible for the difference between the player's original contract and the amount paid by the acquiring team. If the player becomes a free agent and signs with a new team, the original team is responsible for the remaining contractual obligations, minus any amount the new team pays the player (and there isn’t much incentive for the new team to pay more than minimum, as it simply reduces the old team’s obligations). So the Cardinals would be on the hook for pretty much all of it.

There is a lot that Johnny bow ties doesn't understand. Mainly, there is a lack of understanding how to construct a decent roster. Or how to work during the winter. Or how to hire a competent manager.

If Bloom wants to trade Nado, the Cards will have to pay for a good portion of his salary. They need to open up 3B for either Gorman or Wetherholt.

Nado may look at his situation in STL differently for next season. He may be more open for a trade It's clear the Cards want to move on with the younger infielders and reduce payroll. To move him , they may need to pick up a substantial sum of his salary.

If another team signs him, theynonly pay the league minimum and we paynthe rest minus what the rockies are.
However theres like a 0.01% chance of arenado being dfad. Hed be moved to benchplayer first and thennif hendidnt like it waive his ntc where we would pay the half to 2/3rds the money to move him rather than dfa him and pay whole thing

To clarify,
If I recall, and read the MLB site correctly, and he is DFA’d and placed on waivers:
1. If a team claims him, that team is responsible for his entire contract going forward. ( not likely to happen )
2. If we trade him during that ten day period, Cards contribution is negotiable.
3. If we release him after the ten day before (or even before the end of it ), he is a free agent and can sign with anyone, and Cards are responsible for his entire contract. If he signs with another team, they would likely pay him minimum, and Cards responsible for whole contract, minus that minimum amounts ( suspect this would be most likely outcome).
Given none of those are very great results, suspect it is unlikely to happen.
