they havent replace (bad) umps often enough to have room to move people up. Imagine if each season the worst 8 percent got demoted to aaa and the top aaa promoted...

I’m not in favor of robot umps, but they are on the way. I think by and large the umpires do a good job. Sure, i get frustrated by some of the ball and strike calls, but some of the Cardinals batsmen frustrate me more than the umpires.

Don't get the obsession with other peoples physical bits.

If she is a good fair ump then that's all that matters.

I would love a merit based system for MLB umps. The rookie female MLB ump’s name is Jen Pawol. I wish her all the best, and I hope her colleagues welcome her like any other rookie.

My take is this...

If I can forget her name, then she's a good ump. Do you guys remember the name of the umpire who called a perfect game earlier this year? Nope. But who do we remember? CB Bucknor. Angel Hernandez. Phil Cuzzi. Guys like that.

The less I know about umps, probably the better they are. May she enjoy a long, (mostly) anonymous career.

To be fair, I've seen none of that in this thread.
But then some of the dimmer bulbs have not yet weighed in.

What are the betting odds she gets lost on the way to the ballpark?

She might be better than some of the male umps.
