And guys like Gorman Burleson Contreras Arenado prevent the Cardinals from running . Clog up the bases. If Pay Murphy had thes guys on Brewers , that would slow down their running game too.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:54 amYou think their willingness to run helps? They are like top five in steals and top six in runs, something like that.
Ok. An intangible that we overlooked, forgot about, found it not important, or just flat didn’t know it existed. The Brewers have someone over there channeling the spirit of Dave Duncan. They always seem to get the most out of their pitchers, and they draft and develop pitchers very well. They have turned Quinn Priester into an absolute gem. Very well run organization.12xu wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:37 am Their performance is quite impressive. Currently the best record in MLB, despite the fact that their payroll is the lowest among teams currently in line to make the playoffs. All the others are in the top half of the league's payroll rankings, while the Brewers are 20th. They are middle of the pack in the NL in most offensive categories, but they do lead the league in two very important stats - OBP and stolen bases. Pitching wise, they are second in the NL in ERA, and they are fourth in strikeouts.
Milwaukee has few high priced stars - Yelich and Hoskins are their only players making big money. Woodruff and Peralta will get paid a lot more next year. The team is run efficiently and wisely from their FO, and their manager and coaching staff are obviously doing things right.
Well said. But wait, there’s more…12xu wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:37 am Their performance is quite impressive. 100% spot on, too many dough boys on this rosterHazelwood72 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 09:44 amWell said. But wait, there’s more…12xu wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 07:37 am Their performance is quite impressive. The Brew Crew also has the best run differential, a plus 121. They are 4th lowest (4th best) in runs allowed; only SD, KC, and TEX have allowed fewer (and not many fewer than MIL). So Milwaukee is doing a LOT of things very well.
And a team with good OBP and stolen bases is very fun to watch. The Cards WhiteyBall era was a blast as the opposing pitchers and catchers were jittery and off their game while the Cards crafted 20 minute long innings with lots of hits, speed, and action and 50K fans at Busch II screaming GO GO GO! Nobody complained those LONG innings were boring — they were lots of fun.
Sure beats watching our pudgy, sloth-like current team waddling around the field. Maybe Mozo the Clown likes slow, doughy boys.
The Cardinals aren’t getting on base enough to use what little speed they have.hmoss859 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 10:49 am100% spot on, too many dough boys on this rosterHazelwood72 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2025 09:44 amWell said. Speed never slumps, on the bases or in the field
