Who'd a thunk they'd come to bat in the last inning down 7-0 and have the tying run at the plate?

This team is hard to watch. This is likely the first year (excluding Covid time) since the late 70's that I won't go to a Cardinals game. I did go to Busch to see the Savannah Bananas.

they start out behind almost Every game the past month. How many times have they gone 9 up 9 down the first time thru the order? They've got to be able to figure out a SP the first time thru, especially when we just saw him last week.

Not the young players fault. Bad development system rushed them to the majors because fans were getting disgruntled.

Actually, Red, we're watching a number of youngish major league players who are working on improving, as
their experience curve moves upward. Winn, Herrera, Burleson, Scott, Sagesse, Walker, Liberatore, etc.

The players you're probably referring to are Wetherholt, Baez, Baez, Jordan, Mathews, Doyle, Crooks, etc.

Scott, Sagesse, Gorman and Walker are not ready to face MLB pitching on a daily basis. They need some platoon protection. Winn and Herrera look pretty good. Burleson is the biggest, slowest singles hitter ever.

Are you talking about the Burleson who has 14 home runs in 100 games? Which is around 20 for a season? That singles hitter?

Sadly the rainout reschedule overlapped with my vacation, so I have banana tickets away. Vacation gave me COVID.

I blame Oli. That dick

Actually Cranny, we're watching a number of youngish players who should still be in the minors working on improvement.

Sorry, but you must love the Pirates organization. They’ve had this scenario for years.

It is reasonable and fair for us to expect ready to play major league talent on the field. That’s what people pay for when they go to games.

The debate as to whether the Cardinals have major league players on the field vs. minor leaguers depends on one's view of what a major leaguer is ?
If you think a major leaguer are those who hit .285 or better, 25 + HR's and 100 RBI , no the Cards are not blessed with the upper echelon talent that some teams have . The Cardinals do not have the 4 or 5 tool players on the diamond currently. More of the 2 tool type guys .

How soon you forget, Red.

How about that “AAA” shortstop who came to the Cardinals from the west coast. In his first four seasons for the Padres, he hit .258, .211, .230, .222.
He finally hit over .300 when he was 32 years old.
By golly, he ended up making the HOF.

Then there was that “AAA” player who came to us from the Windy City. His first 2 years in the majors he hit .263 and .258. And that “AAA” player
also ended up in the HOF.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the existing “AAA” Cardinals may not make the HOF, but may develop into good solid major leaguers.

Not all players in any lineup (for any team) are made up of proven grizzled veterans like you would like.

The lack of talent on this team is truly shocking, they have NO stars and way too many who are J.A.G.
