As one of the older posters on CT

I have to say all the negative posts on internet web pages, including Cards' Talk are disheartening.
It just seems like people simply love to hate and look for any opportunity and excuse to express that hate.
The posts on Arenado are cruel; it is like people have no respect or honor.
Always remember that baseball players have families that read the posts and are affected. The player can take it but think about the children. Think, people, before you post.
I know this will be blown off my many, some will think it funny and post hateful posts in this very thread. The first response to a post is always some wise-[ash] remark.
Life is short and meant to be enjoyed and productive.
One day you will regret remarks that tear people down rather than build them up.
The older generation knows grew up believing that if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all.
Better that people think you are a nice person than prove you are not.
Whatever, I'm sure this is just going to be laughed off by most of you.

Agree online behavior could be much more positive but no way players or their families are reading anything here. If they are smart they avoid social media except for posts from their actual family and friends.
Many of us called out the owners and management for hurting the franchise- no way to put a positive spin on that. They did not just make mistakes- they openly insulted the fan base. Now they are Finding Out.

The message is an admirable one, but the generational patronizing isn’t necessary.
Older folks don’t have a monopoly on virtue.

Not sure if it's because of their anonymity on Cards Talk, but some poster's disrespect for others is astonishing. Sometimes to the point of being cruel. It doesn't bother me, personally, other than having pity on such conduct. Anonymous or not.

+1... several of the older posters are the most angry and judgemental...they should chill.. this is a [fork]ing anonymous site...you would think they would be relaxed and enjoy their senior years.

My senior years have enabled me to be more chill than ever.

No offense, but you're an idiot if you don't think Millenials and Gen Z are online.

The older generation isn’t as respectful or the if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say it. Players used to go into the stands and brawl with fans who were taunting them Roger Maris hair started falling out because of the hate he got from his own fans because they wanted mantle to break the HR record not him and don’t get me started on what Jackie Robinson and a lot of the black players went through. Yea the older generations just as bad or worse they just didn’t have the internet. People have been the same through all of history hating killing being jerks there’s never been a we were nice and respectful generation

it takes so much less energy to be polite --- i have had times where i chimed in or piled on but never have i been offensive to any poster or called anyone out. Hate is a byproduct of the current environment in this country. As i close in on retirement i just choose to not have time for angry people.

don’t get me started on what Jackie Robinson and a lot of the black players went through.
Amen, sir.
I struggled watching the most recent Jackie Robinson movie: 42.
When you look back at America, the generations were the worst when it came to respecting their fellow man. This generation seem to celebrate what they have in common instead of putting people in boxes because of their differences.

No kidding. He comes off as a sanctimonious, self-righteous preacher. I guess he's perfect in every way.

I always cringe about that part of our baseball history...the thread about Pham seemed to provide some posters an excuse to pile on
